This is the last will and testament of me
GEORGE MASON of Highfield in the parish of Coverham and County of
York yeoman. First I give and bequeath to my daughter MARY MASON
£100 to be paid by my executor herein mentioned two months after my
decease and next I give and bequeath to my son WILLIAM MASON £130
to be paid at the same time by my said executor. Also I give and
bequeath to my daughter MARGARET SPENCE £40 to her her heirs and
assigns forever to be paid by my executor at the decease of my wife
and not before. Likewise I give and bequeath to my daughter HANNAH
STOTT £5 to be paid two months after my decease Likewise I give and
bequeath to my son GEORGE MASON five shillings Likewise I give and
bequeath to my daughter SARAH CHAPMAN forty shillings a year for her
natural life and then to give her child or children £40 to be
divided share and share alike if any be living, if not my executor
to keep it Likewise I give and bequeath to my wife MARGARET MASON
£10 a year during her natural life and also all my household goods
and furniture and Husbandry gear and all my chattels goods and
cattle now in my possession and Lastly I give and bequeath to my son
MATTHEW MASON all my real estate Lands tenements and hereditaments
now in my possession situate at Highfield in the parish of Coverham
and County of York Also I appoint my son MATTHEW MASON my sole
executor he paying all my just debts and funeral expences Likewise
he paying or causing to be paid all the aforesaid legacies he
fulfilling this my Last Will and Testament true intent and meaning
hereof in Witness hereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal 26
April 1788
