The Will of Sarah Martin

 

Plus Inventory

 

In the Name of God Amen I Sarah Martin of Market Harborough in the County of Leicester Spinster being weak and Infirm but of sound and disposing mind and memory praised be God therefore Do make this my last Will and Testament in manner following (That is to say) I Commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping for salvation thereof through the merits of Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer and my Body I comit to the Earth to be Decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named and as for my Temporal Estate I dispose thereof as follows: Imprimis I Give and Devise all that my Messuage or Tenement with the Appurtenances thereunto belonging situate and being in Market Harborough aforesaid now in the Tenure or occupation of Thomas Freeman together with all the outhouses Buildings Yards Gardens priviledges ways and passages to the same belonging or appertaining and therewith now or late used occupyed or Enjoyed unto my Sister Mary Ling Widow heretofore the wife of Anthony Ling deceased for and during the Term of her Natural Life and from and imediately after her Decease Then I Give and Devise the same Messuage or Tenement and premises unto my Nephew John Martin Eldest son of my Brother John Martin for and during the Term of his Natural Life and from and immediately after his Decease Then to the use and behoof of the Heirs of the Body of the said John Martin my Nephew lawfully begotten or to be begotten And for want of such issue Then I Give and Devise the said Messuage or Tenement and premises To the use and behoof of my Nephew William Martin second Eldest son of my Brother John Martin for and during the Term of his Natural Life and from and immediately after his Decease Then to the use and behoof of the Heirs of the Body of the said William Martin my Nephew lawfully to be begotten And for want of such issue Then I Give and Devise the said Messuage or Tenement and premises To the use and behoof of Sarah Ling Spinster Daughter of my Said Sister Mary Ling and her Heirs and Assigns for Ever she paying thereout to Mary Ling her Sister another of the Daughters of the said Mary Ling Widow Ten Pounds within twelve Months after such time as she shall become legally intitled to the said premises. Item I Give and bequeath to my said Brother John Martin one shilling. Item I Give and bequeath to my said Nephew John Martin Five Pounds Item I Give and bequeath to the said Sarah Ling Twenty Pounds Item I Give and bequeath to the said Mary Ling the Daughter Ten Pounds Item I Give and bequeath to Hannah Martin one of the Daughters of my said Brother John Martin Five pounds and to her Sister Mary Martin Five pounds All which said last mentioned Legacys I will and direct shall be paid by my Executrix hereafter named out of my personal Estate within two years next after my decease Item I Give and bequeath all my Household Goods and Furniture (except my Linnen and Wearing Apparel) To the said Sarah Ling Spinster Item I Give to the said Sarah Ling and Mary Ling the Daughter All my Linnen (except Two pair of Sheets which I Give to my Said Sister Mary Ling such as she shall choose) to be Equally Divided between them. Item I Give to the said Sarah Ling my Green Gown of Silk Item I Give to my said Sister Mary Ling my Brown Damask Gown my Black Stuff Gown and my Camblet Gown Item I Give the rest of my Cloths and Wearing Apparel to the said Mary Ling and Sarah Ling the Daughter to be Equally Divided between them Item the Rest and Residue of my Goods Chattels and personal Estate of what Nature or kind soever not herein before by me disposed of I Give and bequeath to my said Sister Mary Ling she paying thereout the said Legacys my Just debts and Funeral Expences Item I make and Constitute my said Sister Mary Ling sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made In Witness whereof I the said Sarah Martin the Testatrix have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixteenth day of April in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and Forty two
