I JAMES MARIS of Eagle Street in the
Parish of St. George by Queen Square in the county of Middlesex
do make this for my last will and Testament I give to my Sons
PHILIP MARIS and JAMES MARIS three Guineas each for Mourning And
all other my Estate and Effects of what nature or kind soever I
give to my Beloved wife ELIZABETH MARIS and my beloved Daughter
ELIZABETH MARIS and the survivor of them and I appoint my said
Wife and Daughter joint Executrixes hereof In witness whereof I
have hereunto set my hand and seal this 22nd day of November
1754. - JAMES MARIS - signed Sealed published and declared by
the said JAMES MARIS by and for his last Will and Testament in
the presence of . - RICHARD BAINES. 30th Oct., 1755
Appeared personally JOSEPH JOHNSON of the
Society of Lincolns Inn in the County of Middlesex Gentleman and
being sworn on the holy Evangelists made Oath as follows that he
will knew and was aquainted with JAMES MARIS late of the parish
of Saint George by Queen Square in the County of Middlesex for
many years before and to the time of his Death and during such
time have often seen him write and subscribe his name and
thereby became well aquainted with his manner and character of
said writing and having now seen and perused the Writ JAMES
MARIS set and subscribed to the last Will and Testament of him
the said JAMES MARIS deceased and ( hereto annexed ) saith that
he verily believes the writ set and subscribed thereto to be of
the proper handwriting of him the said JAMES MARIS deceased. -
JOHN JOHNSON. - the same day the said JOSEPH JOHNSON was sworn
to the Truth of the above affadavit. - before me. - Andrew

This Will was proved at London the thirty
first day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand seven
hundred and fifty five before the Worshipful Andrew Cottee
Ducarel Doctor of Laws and Surrogate of of the Right Honourable
Sir George See Knight also Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or
Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully
constituted by the Oaths of Elizabeth Maris Widow the Relict of
the Deceased and Elizabeth Maris Spinster the Executrixes named
in the said Will to whom administration was granted of all and
sundry the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased they
having been first sworn duly to administer.
