The Will of Charles Mant

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Charles Mant of Emsworth in the County of Southampton Gentleman Whereby I give and bequeath to my nephew Arthur Mant of Storrington the sum of one hundred pounds and unto such of the four children of the late William Lellyett of Havant Gunsmith as shall be living at the time of my decease the sum of fifty pounds each which said sums I direct to be paid in full although my personal estate at the time of my decease may not be sufficient to pay the whole of the legacies hereby bequeathed And I give and bequeath the sum of two hundred pounds unto my late Wife’s nephew Thomas Holloway of No 5 Hanway Street London whose receipt shall be a good discharge to my executor hereinafter named for the same And I direct the said Thomas Holloway to divide the said sum of Two hundred pounds equally between himself and such of his brothers and sisters who shall be living and unmarried at the time of my decease And I give and bequeath unto my two nieces Sophia Mant and Charlotte Mant Daughters of my late brother Joseph Bingham Mant and my niece Charlotte Mant Daughter of my late brother George Mant and my niece Mary Smythe Daughter of my late brother Henry Mant the sum of fifty pounds each and unto my two nephews George Mant and Bingham Mant sons of my late brother Joseph Bingham Mant the sum of fifteen pounds each and unto the two children of my late niece Ellen Guy daughter of my late sister Martha Ann Miller the sum of twenty five pounds each And I give and bequeath the sum of fifteen pounds unto my servant Jane Dalman whether she shall be in my service at the time of my decease or not And I direct all the aforesaid legacies or sums of money to be paid at the expiration of twelve calendar months next after my decease And subject to the payment of all my just debts and my funeral and testamentary expences I give and bequeath all the residue of my personal estate and effects whatsoever unto my said nephew Arthur Mant his executors administrators and assigns absolutely And I appoint my said nephew Arthur Mant sole Executor of this my Will And I give and bequeath all such messuages lands tenements hereditaments and real and personal estate as shall be vested in me upon any trust at the time of my decease unto my said nephew Arthur Mant his heirs executors administrators and assigns upon such trusts as shall be then subsisting therein respectively In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this fifteenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty three _ Charles Mant
