I Daniel Malthus of Hadstock in the County
of Essex do make and publish this my last will and Testament in
manner following that is to say I do (subject and without
prejudice to my Marriage settlement and also subject to Payment
of my just Debts) hereby give devise and bequeath all my Real
and Personal Estates whatsoever to my Wife Henrietta Catherine
Malthus to and for the absolute use and benefit of her my said
wife her Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns for ever and
I do hereby ordain and appoint her the said Wife sole Executrix
of this my will and I also hereby revoke and make void all
former Wills by me at any time heretofore made and do publish
and declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 4th day of
Jany in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and

The few particulars which follow are to be
considered as my requests Twenty Pounds each to my Sisters
Hackstraw & Wathen one hundred Pounds to General Morrison and to
my daughter Harriot any little memorial of me she shall chuse.
To Mrs Jane Dalton all my Botanical Books in which the Name of
Rousseau is written likewise a Box of Plants given me by Mons.
Rousseau A white Cedar Box marked Papers M R to be delivered to
her unopened If it happen to be equally convenient to be buried
in Wootton Church .... with a plain stone And Danl Malthus upon
it in the manner of the Country People to be carried by my old
ffriends a suit of plain cloaths to be given to them
This is a Codicil to my Will Whereas on
the Sale of a Messuage ffarm and Lands in Little Shelford
Hauxton Newton and Hariston in the County of Cambridge included
in my settlement and of which a recovery was suffered since my
son Sydenham Malthus attained his age of twenty one years three
thousand pounds part of the purchasers money was lent in my name
On Mortgage of the said Estates and the Residue of the Purchase
money being ... the said two hundred and fifty pounds was laid
out in the purchase of Bank three per Cent Consolidated
Annuities which are standing in my name Now I do declare that
the said Mortgage money and Bank Annuities of right belong to my
said son Sydenham Malthus subject to the payment of Interest and
dividends thereof to my Wife during her life and in order that
the said Mortgage money and Bank Annuities may not be mixed with
my property and be included with the bequest of my Personal
Estate given by my Will I make the aforesaid declaration and
subject to the Payment of Interest and Dividends of the said
Mortgage money and Bank Annuities the produce of the said sale I
give and bequeath the said Mortgage money and Bank Annuities to
my said son Sydenham Malthus his Executors Administrators and
Assigns In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal
this ninth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand
