This is the last will and testament of me John Maltby of Catchgate in the County of Durham made this ninth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and one. I hereby revoke all wills made by me at anytime heretofore. I appoint William Maltby my son of 6 Mission Street Newfield and Stephen Maltby my son of Catchgate to be my Executors and direct that all my debts and funrel expenses shall be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.

I give and bequeath unto my sons William Maltby, Theophilus Maltby, John Maltby, Stephen maltby, Robert Maltby and my daughter Mary Maltby the whole of my furniture which must be sold and the money equally divided and my house at Catchgate must be sold and the money that is received for the said house to be equally divided (after paying all my just debts) and funrel expenses) amongst mys sons and daughter above named. My furniture and house above named to be sold either by public auction or private sale as my executors think best. Should my son Stephen Maltby be dead at the time of my decease his share must be equally divided between Elizabeth Ann Maltby my son Stephen Maltby's wife and my grandson Robert Maltby. I give residue of all property to my son Stephen Maltby.-----------
