In the name of God Amen I John Maddock of
Newton in Makerfeild in the County of lancast’r Linen webst’r
being sick & weake in body butt of sound & p’fect memory Praise
be to Almighty God my only Maker & Redeemer, & my body to the
Earth from whence itt came to be buried att the Parrish Church
of Winwick in such forme & man’er as my frends shall thinke fitt
And for such Worldly Goods as itt hath pleased God to bestow on
me in this life My mynd & Will is to dispose of as followeth
viz. It’m I give & bequeath unto my eldest sonne John Maddock
all my wearing Apperrell (excepting one Paire of Boots) And
alsoe one Swarme of Bees at John Crofts in Newton the one halfe
of the encrease of them for three yeares viz from August was
twelve months till August next come twelve months being all w’ch
falls to my p’t of them Also three Loomes w’th all the worke
Loomes & other utinssells belonging to them And also I give &
bequeath unto my s’d sone John Maddock (after the death &
decease of Elizabeth my wife) all the Good Benchs & Shelves that
are pinfast & not moveable in all the Lower Roomes about the
house & one table in the house w’th the shelves dishboard
benches & greate, And one bedstead one littel paire of
bedstocks one table & one Coferr standing in the Parlour w’th
the shelves & benches about & one little Cubboard in the buttery
w’th all the shelves & benches about & one great Cofer standing
about after my decease & all the timber & loose wood about the
house to be imployed & bestowed for such uses as are needfull
about the same either by Elizabeth my wife or John my s’d sone
It’m I give & bequeath unto my sone Willm. Maddock Twenty
Shillings It’m I give & bequeath unto Ellen Lowe my eldest
daught’r one swarme of Bees being putt to p’ts to George
Tomlinson att Newton Common all the encrease w’ch falls to my
p’t for three years viz from August last was twelve months till
August next come twelve months It’m I give & bequeath unto
Elizabeth Lowe my Grandchilde two swarmes of Bees att Henry
Houghtons of Newton Common all ye encrease w’ch falls to my p’t
for three years viz from August last was twelve months till
August next come twelve months & one Swarme more att the same
place being wholy myne & all the increase that shall fall to my
p’t alsoe there of months It’m I give & bequeath unto
Elizabeth Maddock my youngest daughter the sume of Thirty Pounds
in full discharge of all other legacyes & gifts Left her by her
unkells Ants & other frends in Newton & Ashton or ells where And
one Swarme of Bees putt to p’ts at Mr. Colliers of Newton
aforesaid & one Swarme att Banist’rs of Newton all the encrease
w’ch falls to my p’t from August last till August come two
yeares & one Swarme att John Houghtons of Newton all the
encrease that falls to my p’t since August last was twelve
months till August next come twelve months Alsoe I give &
bequeath unto my s’d daughter Elizabeth the sume of Ten Pounds
more to be paid either in Money or Goods Proveded that she
marrye w’th the consent of Elizabeth my s’d Wife & not otherwise
& if itt shall please God to enable my s’d wife soe to doe
months It’m I give & bequeath all my Goods Cattells Chattells &
utinsells w’tsoev’r into the hands of Elizabeth my s’d wife she
freeing & discharging all legacyes & p’cons herein before
menconed & allsoe my fun’rall expences out of the same And I
COnstitute ordaine & make the s’d Elizabeth Maddock my s’d wife
my true & lawfull & sole Executrix to execute this my last Will
& testam’t according to my Mind & Will here in declared And I
doe make my s’d sone John Maddock overseer here of th’t the same
be p’formed accordingly And I revoke all form’r wills w’tsoever
& doe establish this my Last Will & Testam’t & for the better
strenghening hereof I have hereunto putt my hand & seale
