In the name of God Amen the tow and
twenteith day of february 1674 in the Twenty Seaventh yeare of
the Raigne of our Sov’aigne Lord King Charles the second over
England etc. I Henry Lyon of Haddocke in the County of Lanc’r
husbandman Beinge Imfirme and weake in Body but of Sound and
p’fecte Memory (prayse bee given to god for the same) And
knowinge the uncertainty of this Life on Earth And beinge
desirous to Settle things in order doe make this my Last Will &
Testament in manner & forme followinge (that is to say) first
and principally I Commend my Soule to Almighty God my Creator
Assuredly Beleivinge that I shall receave & have Full pardon and
Free remission of all my Sinnes and bee Saved by the precious
death and Meritts of my Blessed Saviour and Redeemer Christ
Jesus & my Body to the Earth from whence it was taken to bee
buried in such decent and christian manner as to my Ex’rs
hearafter named shall bee thought meete & convenient And as
touching such Worldly Estate as the Lord hath lent mee my will
and meaninge is the same shall bee Imployed & bestowed as
hearafter by this will is expressed Revokinge and makeinge void
all wills by me formerly made declare & appoynt this to bee my
Last will & Testam’t First as touchinge & concerninge one
Messuage & tenem’t of Myne in Haddock aforsaid where I now Live
My will & Mynd is that Mathew Naylor Thomas Bordman Zachary
Gaskell & Robt. Cash all of Haddocke shall have full power to
bargaine sell confirme & dispose of the same as their
discreation shall think fitt towards the dischardginge of my
debts onely Reservinge in the Bargaine & sale thereof the yearly
Sume of five pound out of the same to be paid to Ellin Lyon my
mother dureinge the Terme of her natural Life If the Indenture
of Lease Soe Longe endure And for my p’sonall estate in goods my
Will & mynd is that my debts funerall expencs & p’pate of this
my will shall be truely dischardged & paid forth & out of my
said Goods & Tenem’t as aforsaid Item I Give to Ellin Lyon my
mother the Some of five pound her bed w’ch shee now useth one
Little box & one hatchell Item the Rest and residue of All my
Goods whatsoever I Give & dispose the same to John Lyon my
brother Mathew Naylor my Brother in Lawe & Elizabeth Lyon my
sister in Lawe to bee equally devided Among them three And of
this my present testam’t I ordayne constitute & Appoynt My
Brother in Lawe Mathw Naylor & Zachary Gaskell my True and
Lawfull Ex’rs hereof And Rob’rt Cash and Thomas Bordman
overseers of the same In witnesse wherof I have hearunto put my
hand and Seale the day and yeare first above written
