The Will of Richard Lutman

the Name of God Amen The
Eighteenth day of
December In the Seaven
and Twentieth yeare of
the Raigne of our most
gratious Soveraigne Lord
Charles the second by
the grace of God King of
England Scotland ffrance
and Ireland Defender of
the faith Anno Dm 1675 I
Richard Lutman of
Langley in the Parish of
Rogate in the County of
Sussex Gent being Sick
in Body yet in perfect
memory Thanks be unto
God doe make and ordeine
this to be my last Will
and Testament in manner
and forme following
Imprimis I bequeath my
Soule into the hands of
Almighty God my Maker
trusting to be saved by
the meritts of Jesus
Christ my Redeemer and
Saviour And my Body to
be buryed in the Parish
Church of Rogate
aforesaid Item I give
and bequeath unto Jane
my loving wife the Sume
of fforty Pounds by the
yeare during her
naturall Life to be paid
by Quarterly payments by
even and equall portions
in full satisfaction of
all her Dower or Thirds
out of all or any of my
Lands or Tenemts Also I
give unto my said Wife
the Sume of ffyfty
Pownds To be paid unto
her within Six monethes
after my decease All
which I give unto her
upon Condition that shee
my said Wife shall at
the request of my Sonn
Richard make seale and
deliver unto him and his
heires Such lawfull and
sufficient Discharges or
Releases of all her
Dower right title claime
and Demand whatsoever
that shee can or may
have to any of my Lands
or Tenements aswell
Leasehold and Copyhold
as ffreehold as by
Counsell Shall be
advised Soe that at the
Same time my said Sonn
Richard his heires and
assignes doe and shall
also by good Assurance
in the Law Settle and
Secure unto my said Wife
Jane the said Sume or
Annuity of fforty Pownds
by the yeare during her
life as aforesaid out of
Some Part of my Lands or
Tenements that may be
sufficient in value in
such forme and manner
also as by Counsell
shall be advised And
also pay ro secure unto
her the said Sume of
ffyfty Pownds Also I
give unto my said Wife
my best Bed and
furniture thereunto
belonging One Chest of
Drawers Six Searge
Chaires One great Chest
now standing in the
Chamber over the hall
where I now lyve with
Two paire of Sheets One
paire of Blanketts and

unto my Sonn John Lutman

him within One Moneth
after the end or
expiration of his now
