In the name of god Amen the
Twentieth Day of Aprill In the Yeare of our Lord god One
Thousand five hundreth nynety and nyne
I Lawrence Lordman of the Chappelry of
Bernard castell sick in body but in full and perfect
remembraunce, whereof I give god thanks, do make This my Last
Will and Testament in manner and forme following ffirst I
give and bequeathe my soule to god Almighty fully trusting to
have remission of my synnes, onely by the Deathe of Jesus
Christ. And my body to be buried in the Churcheyard of
Bernardcastell aforesaid the [?Duetyes] thereto [ ?Accustomed]
contented and payd Item I frelye give unto Jane my Loving
Wife the whole and full Third parte of all my goodes according
to Lawe in that behalf, and also one Browne Cowe which I bought
of George Allanson. Item I give to Thomas my youngest
sonne ane White Rigged Whye [=heifer]. Item I give to
Robert my sonne that Why now in the Custody of Thomas Thurseby
Which was given to him for his Godbarne [=Christening]
gift. Item I give to Mary my daughter that Why wth.
Anthony Coward, which was given to her for her godbarne gift.
Item I give to Mary Lordman my sister one Branded Why which
is wth. Thomas Thursby. Item I give to Margery Lordman my
mother foure shillings, Conditionally that she buy woll wth it,
and make for her selfe a Cote [?of it]. Item I give to
Anthony Lordman my father my next best Jerkin, Dublet, breches,
stockings shert ?band and [illegible word]. Item I give
to Willm Lordman my brother my worst brecches, a jerkin and a
shert at my wifes discretõn Itm [sic] I release unto my
Brother George Lordman all suche [illegible word] of money as he
is owing me. Item I give unto ayther of my made
[?shvants] twelve pence. Item I
will that Jane my wife shall have the [?Trycion]and upbringing
of my children, and the setting forward of their porcones at the
sight and Discretiõn of my supvisors so long as she shall
remayne sole and unmarried. But if she mary and take another
husband, then I will that her husband and she shall enter bond
before they mary unto my supvisors, for the safe Custody and
setting forward of my childrens porcones. And if they Refuse to
do so, then my supvisors to place my children and their porcones
at their Discretõnes Item the Residue of my goodes
Chattells and Chattells [sic, repetition] whatsoever not before
bequeathed, my debts being paid, and my funerall expenses
deducted I give and bequeath unto my said thre children Robert
Thomas and Mary, whom joyntly together I make executors of this
my Last Will and Testament. And I appoynt my loving frendes,
Thomas p[ar]kin Robert Teasdale Henry Abraham and Michaell
Walker to be [2 illegible words, same as last] of this my last
Will and Testament, All Whom I Desire to see this my Will and
Testament fulfilled according to the true meanyng of the same,
And to Assyst my Wif and children wth their frendly helpe and
counsell so oft as need [?should] [illegible word] and as my
trust is. Witnesses hereof, Thomas Parkin Robert Teasdale Henry
Abraham Michaell Walker Robert Whorton and
Launcelot Langstaffe.
