The Will of Katherine Loope

 

In the name of God Amen I Katherine Loope of Slepe within the parish of Arne Isle of Purbeck and County of Dorsett Widdow being sicke in body but of perfect memory (thanks be given unto God therefore) Doe make my last Will and Testament as followeth Revoaking and annulling all and every former Will and Wills by mee heretofore made and this only to be my last Will and Testament And first I Committ my Soule into the hands of Almighty God my heavenly father trusting to bee saved by the ……merritts of Jesus Christ my only Saviour and Redeemer And my Body I Committ to the Earth from whence it was taken to bee decently buried at the Discretion of my Daughter Alice Baker and my Executors in trust hereafter named And concerning my worldly estate which the Lord hath heere intrusted me with I give and ……the same as followeth And first of all I give to the poore of the Parish of the Lady Mary the Lady Mary in Wareham the sume of Twenty shillings I give alsoe towards the……of the Church of the said Lady Mary Twenty shillings Alsoe I give to the poore of the said Parish of Arne Tenn shillings which said severall sumes of money my will is shalbe paid and Distributed art or on the day of my ffunerall or within one moneth nexte after the same by my Executors in Trust Item I give unto Katherine Baker my Grandchilde One hundred Pounds to bee paid unto my Executors in Trust for her as by my Cousin John Loope of Henbury which is due unto mee from him by Bond Alsoe I give unto Thomas Baker and Mary Baker my Grandchildren the sume of ffifty pounds a peece And unto the Child yet unborne (whether male or female) now in the wombe of Alice Baker my Daughter the Wife of Thomas Baker Clothyer I give the like Sume of ffifty pounds which said severall sumes of One hundred pounds and ffifty pounds my Will is shalbe paid unto then the said Katherine Baker Thomas Baker and Mary Baker at their severall age and Ages of One and Twenty Yeares or Day or dayes of marriage which shall first happen As alsoe the said Sume of ffifty pounds to the child which is yet unborne And I Doe hereby further Declare my Will to bee That if either of my said Grandchildren Katherine Thomas and Mary Baker or the Childe which is yet unborne as aforesaid shall happen to Dye Before each or any or either of them shall attaine unto his her or their severall Age or ages of One and Twenty yeares or bee marryed That then the Legacy soe before by mee given unto such of them soe happeninge to Die shalbe equally Divided amongst the Survivors of them And my will further is That my said Daughter Alice Baker shall have and receive of and from my Executors in Trust for and towards the education maintenance of the said Children in the Interest of their severall Legacies soe by mee given unto them severally as aforesaid Item I give unto my Sonne George Loope ffive pounds to bee paid within Three moneths next after my Decease And whereas my said Sonne George Loope Doth owe unto me by Bond One hundred pounds I Doe remitt and forgive unto him the Interest thereof And Doe give unto George Loope the Same and Amy Loope his Daughter the said One hundred pounds That is to say to each of them the said George and Anne my Grandchildren ffifty pounds a peece to bee paid at their severall age and ages of One and Twenty years or day or dayes of marriage which shall first happen and not before without any interest to bee paid for the same the Interest being by mee given and allowed towards the education of my Grandchildren the said Sonne and Daughter of my said Sonne George Loope And if either of them the Said George or Anne Loope my said Grandchildren shall happen to Die before their or either of their said Legacies shalbe paiable unto them my Will is that the Survivor of them shall have and enjoy the said One hundred pounds Item I give unto the said George Loope my grandchild my silver beere bowle, and unto the said Katherine Baker my said Grandchilde I give and bequeath my Lodging Bedd with all the ffurniture whatsoever by mee used and belonging And I Doe hereby further Declare my Will to be That if after my said Legacies and my ffunerall Expenses shalbe paid and Discharged Any Overplus in my estate shall remaine That the said Alice Baker my Daughter shall have and receive the same for and towards the education and maintenance of her Children but the said Thomas Baker her said husband shall not intermeddle or Dispose of the same And I the said Katherine Loope Doe hereby nominate and appoint my Lovinge Kinsmen Thomas Egardon and Latham Hardinge As alsoe my Loveinge friend Christopher White of Wareham aforesaid to bee the Executors in Trust of this my last Will and Testament unto each of whome for the Discharge of their Trust I give the sume of Twenty shillings a peece In Witness whereof I the said Katherine Loope have hereunto sett my hand and Seale The Second Day of January in the Nineteenth yeare of the Reigne of our Soveraigne Lord King Charles the Second over England Annoq Dm 1667 the marke of the said Katherine Loope
