In the Name of God Amen I William Loadman
of Barnard Castle in the County of Durham Yeoman Do make this my
last Will and Testament in manner & form following that is to
say
I Give and Devise unto my Loveing Niece
Elizabeth Loadman and to her Heirs & assigns for ever all that
the Messuage Burgage or Tenement with the Shops & appurtenances
thereunto belonging wherein I now dwell I also Give and Devise
to my
Brother in Law Joseph Raine and his Heirs
my Northfield Close which I purchased of John Clement I also
Give & Devise to my Sister in Law Ann Bambridge & her Heirs my
Two days work of Land lying in the Northfield belonging to
Barnard Castle aforesaid adjoining on the Lands of Mr [ ?Heaton]
of NewCastle on or towards the East & the Lands of Ambrose
Edwards Esquire purchased of Mrs. Ann Shaw on the West &
[illegible word : ?Blea Trod] on the South provided [ ?th:
= ‘that’] the said Ann Bambridge or her Heirs Do pay within Six
months after my Death to my Said Niece Elizabeth Loadman the Sum
of Twelve pounds and in Case of non payment of the Said Twelve
pounds within the [ ?time] aforesaid Then the Devise to the said
Ann Bambridge & her Heirs to be void and in that Case
I Give and Devise the Said Two Days work
of ground to my Said Niece Elizabeth Loadman her Heirs & assigns
for ever I also Give & Devise to the Said Joseph Raine All those
Two Ridges of Land lying in the Northfield adjoining on the
Lands of the Said Mr [ ?Heaton] on the West and the Lands of Sr.
Ralph Millbankes on or towards ye East To hold to the Said
Joseph Rain & his assigns for & during the Term of his natural
life He the Said Joseph paying [ ?the rent] to the Said Ann
Bambridge within twelve months next after his Entry thereintothe
Sum of ffive pounds and from & after the Death of the Said
Joseph Raine Then I Give & Devise the Said Two Ridges of Land
unto Mary, Tabitha, & Jane Raine the Daughters of the Said
Joseph Raine and their Heirs as Tenants in Common and my Will is
and I do hereby order and Direct that that my Said Niece
Elizabeth Loadman Shall have receive and take to her own use the
Rents and Proffits of all the Said Close Ridges and Days work of
Land herein before Severally Devised to the Said Joseph Raine &
Ann Bambridge for & during the Term of Two Years next after my
Decease and that my Said Devisees or either of them shall not
enter or enjoy the Sd last mentioned [illegible word] or any
part thereof until two Years rents or profits thereof be first
duly paid or allowed to my Said Niece the better to enable Her
to pay the Annuity hereinafter given to my Sister Martha Kipling
To whom I give & Devise the Yearly Sum of ffour pounds for and
during the Term of her Natural life to be paid her quarterly by
my Said Niece Elizabeth Loadman and the first payment thereof to
be made three months next after my Death I also Give to my
CousinsMr Robert Atkinson & his Sister Tabitha Hutchinson ye sum
of ffive shillings a piece All the rest residue and remainder of
my Estate as well as all as personal I Give Devise & bequeath
the same unto my Said Niece Elizabeth Loadman & her Heirs and Do
hereby name make & appoint her the Said Elizabeth Loadman Sole
Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all
former & other Will & Wills by me heretofore made In Witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Twenty Seventh
day of September In ye Tenth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign
Lord George ye Second King of Great Britain etc. and in ye year
of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred & thirty Six/
