The Will of Edward Light

 

I Edward Light of Gillingham in the county of Dorset Solicitor hereby revoke all testamentary dispositions heretofore made by me and declare this to be my last Will and Testament I appoint my wife Agnes Light my son Arthur Edward Light and my son-in-law Philip Thomas Woolcott Slade Executors of my Will I give all my property estate and effects of every kind and description (subject to and after payment thereout of my debts funeral and testamentary expenses) unto my said wife Agnes Light my said son Arthur Edward Light and my son in law Philip Thomas Woolcott Slade.  Upon trust to permit the free use and enjoyment of all my Trust Estate as well capital as income by my said wife Agnes Light during her life for her comfortable maintenance according to her station as my widow And subject thereto my Trustees or Trustee for the time being of my Will shall hold as well the Capital as the Income of my Trust Estate or so much respectively as shall remain after answering the trust aforesaid In trust for all my children as tenants in common in equal shares  Provided always that if any child of mine shall die in my lifetime having a child or children who or any of whom shall survive me and attain the age of twenty one years then and in every such case the last mentioned child or children shall take and if more than one equally between them the share which his her or their parent if living at my death would have taken.  Provided also and I hereby declare that as to the share of my daughter Adeline Mary of or in my Trust Estate (save as to One hundred pounds part thereof in case but not otherwise she shall be living when the said share falls into possession)  the same shall not vest absolutely in her while covert but shall be held by my Trustees or Trustee In trust to apply the same as well Capital as Income in such sums at such times and generally in all respects in such manner as my Trustees or Trustee in their or his discretion shall think fit for or towards the maintenance education advancement or benefit of her my said daughter Adeline Mary and her child or children living at my death (but preferentially my said daughter) or any one or more of them to the exclusion of any other or others of them as my Trustees or Trustee in their or his aforesaid discretion shall think fit  And after the death of my said daughter Adeline Mary my Trustees or Trustee shall hold as well the Capital and the Income of her share (save as aforesaid) or so much thereof respectively as shall remain after answering the trust aforesaid In trust for her aforesaid child or children who has or have attained or shall attain the age of twenty one years and if more then one in equal shares I confer on my Trustees or Trustee a power of sale over all my Estate exercisable at their dissertation  Also full discretionary powers of advancement of any child or grandchild out of his or her expectant presumptive or vested share but nevertheless during the lifetime of my said wife only with her express consent in writing I appoint my son in law James Henry Hunt an Executor and Trustee of my Will in case from any cause either of them the said Arthur Edward Light and Philip Thomas Woolcott Slade shall cease to be an Executor and Transfer before the trusts and purposes of my Will are fully executed Save as last aforesaid I confer on m said wife the power of supplying any vacancy in the trusteeship which may arise during her life  In witness whereof I have hereunder set my hand this twenty eighth day of December One thousand nine hundred and seven.
