The Will of George Leman

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me George Leman of Pitminster in the County of Somerset Yeoman I give to Matthew Colman of Corfe in the said County Chandler and Henry Smith of Churchstanton in the County of Devon Gentleman All my messuages lands tenements and real estate whether Customary or ffreehold or of whatever other tenure soever to hold to them the said Matthew Colman and Henry Smith their heirs and assigns Upon trust for my Son George until he shall attain the age of twenty one years and immediately as my said Son shall arrive to that age then I direct the said Matthew Colman and Henry Smith or the survivor of them his heirs and assigns to surrender convey and assure my said messuages lands tenements and real estate above mentioned unto and to the use and behoof of him my said son George his heirs and assigns according to the tenures thereof respectively and I charge my freehold lands in Pitminster exclusively with the payment of an Annuity or yearly sum of twenty pounds unto my wife for and during her life or so long as she shall continue my Widow to be paid quarterly but in case my said Wife should marry again then I charge the same freehold lands with the payment of the yearly sum of ten pounds to her my said wife for her life payable as aforesaid and I give her a power of distress on my said freehold lands in case of nonpayment of the said annuity as in case of rack rent in arrear I give to the said Matthew Colman and Henry Smith the sum of three hundred and fifty pounds which is due to me from my brother Thomas under and by virtue of the Will of my late father and I direct that my said trustees do pay thereout all debts due from me or from my said late father and pay the overplus whereof (if any) to and for the use of my said son in such manner as in their judgment as be considered best I give my said Wife one thing of a sort of all my household goods and furniture for her own use and benefit And all the Rest of my personal estate and effects whatsoever I give to my said son George his executors admors and assigns And I appoint the said Matthew Colman and Henry Smith Executors of this my Will and Trustees and Guardians of my said son during his minority and I direct that my said trustees shall be allowed all reasonable expenses incurred in the execution of the trusts hereby reposed in them and that they shall not be answerable or accountable for any more money than shall come to their respective hands nor for each others acts
