This is the last will
and testament of me John
Leeds of Marden in the
County of Kent, farmer.
Item, I appoint my wife
Mary Anne and my
son-in-law Richard
Knight trustees and
executors of my will. I
empower my said trustees
to carry on my farming
business during the life
of my said wife and for
that purpose to continue
as tenants of the farm
which I shall use at the
time of my decease and
employ my live and dead
agricultural stock and
such part of my personal
estate as they shall
think fit. I empower my
trustees to manage my
personal estate in such
a manner as they shall
think fit with liberty
at their discretion
either to permit it to
remain in the state it
shall be found at my
death or to get it in
and invest the proceeds
in their names upon any
stocks funds or
securities and to vary
the investment when and
as they shall think fit.
I give to my said wife
the income of my
personal estate
inclusive of the profits
of the said business
during her life and on
her death as to my
personal estate and
securities whereon the
same may happen to be
invested I give and
bequeath the same unto
and equally between
Harriet the wife of the
said Richard Knight and
my daughter Mary Anne
the wife of George Sharp
of Marden aforesaid
labourer for their own
absolute use. I devise
to my said trustees all
legal interests vested
in me a trustee or
mortgagee subject to the
trusts and equities
affecting the same
respectively. In witness
whereof I have hereunto
set my hand this fourth
day of January 1841.
