defender of the faith I
Robert Leeds of
Hawkhurst in the county
of Kent, Malster, being
sick and weak in body
but of sound and perfect
memory thanks be given
to God therefore do
hereby make and ordain
this to be my last will
and testament in manner
and form following First
I bequeath my soul into
the hands of Almighty
God who gave it to me
and my body to the earth
from whence it was taken
to be decently buried
after the discretion of
my executor hereafter
named and as touching
and concerning all such
goods and estate as it
hath so far Almighty God
in this life for to send
me I give and bequeath
them all in manner and
form following.
Imprimis I give and
bequeath unto Anne
Gorham of Hawkhurst
aforesaid widow one
little box of drawers
and all my wives wearing
apparel of all sorts
whatsoever and one trunk
in the inner chamber and
one chest in the said
chamber and one pair of
fire tongs to be
delivered unto her and
all her own goods and
household stuff by my
executor hereafter named
within one month after
my decease without
paying for the standing
of the same.
Item I give and bequeath
unto the said Anne
Gorham twenty pounds of
lawful money of England
to be paid unto her
within one month the
next after my decease by
my executor as hereafter
named.
Item I give and bequeath
unto John Leeds my
brother five and forty
pounds of lawful money
of England to be paid to
him within three months
next after my decease by
my executor hereafter
named.
Item I give and bequeath
unto William Leeds my
brother three score
pounds of lawful money
of England to be paid
unto him within three
months next after my
decease by my executor
hereafter named.
Item I give and bequeath
unto John Sparsey of
Salehurst my father in
law our silver bowl
which I had with my wife
in marriage to be
delivered unto him
within one month next
after my decease by my
executor hereafter
named.
Item I give and bequeath
to Elizabeth of
Hawkhurst aforesaid
spinster ten shillings
of lawful money of
England to be paid unto
her within one month
next after my decease by
my executor hereafter
named.
Item I give and bequeath
unto the poor of the
parish of Hawkhurst
aforesaid twenty
shillings of lawful
money of England to be
paid unto them within
one month next after my
decease by my executor
hereafter named.
All the rest of my goods
chattels ready money
debts owing and personal
and state and whatsoever
my debts and legacies
first p[aid and funeral
expenses discharged I
give and bequeath them
all unto my loving
father John Leeds whom I
do hereby make sole
executor of this my last
will and testament in
witness whereof I the
said Robert Leeds have
hereunto set my hand and
seal and dated this day
and year first above
