This is the last will
and testament of me John
Leeds of the town of
Hythe in Kent, grocer, I
appoint my brother in
law George Elliot of
Ashford in Kent,
Gentleman and William
Argare Court of Hythe
aforesaid grocer to be
executors and trustees
of my will and I devise
unto them and their
heirs all estates vested
in me as trustees or
Mortgages I give to the
said William Agare Court
the legacy or sum of
twentyfive pounds and to
John the natural son of
Sarah the wife of Samuel
Bailey of Folkestone in
Kent Grocer formerly
Sarah Sharwood the
legacy or sum of one
hundred pounds I give
all my real and personal
property to my said
trustees their heirs
executors administrators
and assigns in trust as
soon as conveniently may
be after my decease to
get in sell and convert
the same into money in
such a manner as they or
he shall think fit with
power to sell subject to
special conditions and
to buy in and resell any
property and to recind
or vary any contract for
sale to accept
compositions for debts
to compromise or suspend
claims made in behalf of
or against my estate or
to refer them to
arbitration and to
forego or satisfy such
claims as they or he
deem it just or
expedient so to deal
with whether legally
enforceable or not and
to stand and be
possessed of the
proceeds arising from
the sale and conversion
into money of my said
real and personal
property (after payment
there out of my funeral
and trust expenses debts
and legacies) in trust
to pay and divide the
same equally and between
my two sisters Elizabeth
Wright and Ann Hughes
the said George Elliot
and the widow of my late
brother Thomas Leeds I
declare that if any
legatee herein named be
now dead or die before
me I give the legacy or
gift intended for him or
her to his or her
executors or
administrators to be
applied as if the same
had formed part of the
personal estate of such
legatee at his or her
decease I declare that
my said Trustees or
Trustee may give valid
discharges for all trust
monies which shall be
received by them I
declare that each
trustee shall be
answerable only for
losses arising from his
own default and may
retain and allow to his
co trustee all expences
incident to the
performance of the
Trustees In witness
whereof I have hereunto
set my hand this tenth
