This is the
last will and testament
of me Edmund Leeds of
Appledore in the county
of Kent, grazier, made
this fourth day of June
in the year of our Lord
1761 in the first years
of the reign of our
sovereign Lord George
the Third by the grace
of God of Great Britain
France and Ireland King
defender of the faith,
etc, Imprimis. I commend
my soul into the hands
of the Almighty God
hoping for pardon and
remission of all my sins
and eternal life through
the merits of death and
passion of my Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ and
my body I commit to the
earth to be decently
interred at the
discretion of my
executor hereinafter
named and as to the
worldly goods which God
hath been pleased to
intrust me with I give
and dispose thereof as
follows (that is to say)
I will and direct that
all my just debts and
funeral expences be in
the first place fully
paid and satisfied.
Item I give and bequeath
unto my brother John
Leeds now or late of
Sevenoaks in the said
county of Kent, sadler,
the sum of £100 of
lawful money of Great
Britain to be paid unto
him the said John Leeds
by my executor herein
after named within the
space of six months next
after my decease and all
the rest residue and
remainder of my ready
moneys and securitys for
money debts goods cattle
stock effects and
personal estate
whatsoever and
wheresoever and of what
nature kind or quality
so ever the same be
whereof I shall die
possessed and which
shall be any ways due
owing or belonging unto
one at the time of my
decease after payment of
my said debts funeral
expences and legacy of
one hundred pounds I
give devise and bequeath
the same and every part
thereof and all my
estate and interest
therein unto my father
in law Isaak Munk the
Elder of Appledore
aforesaid grazier to
hold the same unto him
my said father in law
Isaak Munk his executors
administrators and
assigns absolutely and
forever and I do hereby
name make and constitute
and appoint him my said
father in law Isaac Munk
sole executor of this my
last will and testament
and do hereby revoke and
make void all former
wills and codicil by me
at any time or time
heretofore made and do
declare this only to be
my last will and
testament in witness
whereof I the said
Edmund Leeds the
testator have to this my
last will and testament
set my hand and seal the
day and year above
written.
