The Will of Charles Leeds
 

The eleventh day of October 1667 the last will and testament of Charles Leeds of the city of Canterbury, Gent, made and published the day & year aforesaid.

Imprimis I the said Charles Leeds do make my last will & testament as followeth. First I make & ordain my brother Mr. William Perkes executor whom I desire to be careful to pay all my debts whatsoever & in the first place the debt of two hundred thirty five pounds I owe my nieces children for which I have given a bond unto John Rolfe and to enable him so to do I give and desire unto him in fee simple all my messuage land tenements and heriditaments whatsoever in Tenterden & Benenden or elsewhere to hold to him & his heirs upon especial trust on condition that the premises & every part thereof shall be by him sold and money there of coming after my debts leagacies & funeral expences discharged shall be equally divided to and amongst all & every my children.

Item my will & meaning as my wife shall have & enjoy all such goods & household stuff as was hers before our intermarriage.

Item I give to my daughter Elizabeth two silver dishes and the rest of my plate to be divided amongst my children. The residue of my personal estate I give to my executor for the purposes in this my will mentioned within for payment of my debts & raising portions for my children of the surplus.
