The Inventory of William Leedes

The accompaniment of Richard Grove of the Parish of Cranbrook

administrator of the goods and chattels of  William

Leedes late while he lived of the Parish of Benenden deceased

by him made and declared before the Right Worshipful Mr George

Newman Dr of Law official to the Rev Mr…………of

Canterbury the 28 day of April in the year of our

Lord God 1598 of and upon all & singular such goods and

Chattels as last were the aforesaid William Leedes deceased

his while he lived and since his death have come to the

hands and possession of this accompaniment by due passage of

laws of administration thereof lawfully wemitted as

                                                   followeth viz

First this accompaniment doth charge himself with all                            }                                              

goods and chattels as late were the aforenamed                                        }                                         

William Leedes deceased his while he lived and since                               }                                    

His death have come to the hands and possession of                                 }

This accompniment which goods and chattels are                                     }

Contained and satisfied in the inventory thereof made                              }

Hereunder and…by……………………..and                                            }

appraised to the ………………thereof            …….the hall…………………        }

unto the sum of £168 4s 1d us by the                       }

said inventory at large appear…………….                          }

 

                          whereof this accompaniment humbly prayeth to be                 

                          allowed all such sums of money as he hath necessary

                          paid and laid out in and about the payment of the debts

                          and other duties due & owing by the said deceased at his

                          death and for other ordained charges by him made & laid

                          in & above the administration of the goods of the said    

                          deceased whereof  the particulars do follow

                         

 

Imprimis payed unto Mr.Walter Jones vicar of Benenden for               }

a sermon made at the  burial of the said  deceased                               }

 

Item  paid more for a coffin to lay the said deceased}

in  and to such as carryeth him to his burial for their                             }

pains therein                                                 

 

Item paid to one wife a victualles  for beer                                              }

spent at the  burial of the said deceased                                                   }

 

Item paid and laid out more for victuals spent at the burial of the said deceased all manner of ways and  }

at the making of the inventory of his goods

 

Item paid to John Hubbard for tolling the bell & for the                        }

………and………the grave of the deceased                                            }

 

Item paid to the widow Tollhurst for watching with                              }

the said deceased and his child in the time of their                                  }

sickness

 

Item paid to William Tollhurst servant of the said                                 }

deceased for wages due to him by the said deceased                             }

at his death                                                                                              }

 

Item paid unto Edmond Morris for physick ministered                          }

Unto Joan Leedes daughter of the said deceased                                   }

 

Item paid unto the wife of Robert White for washing                             }

Dyething and painstaking of and with aforesaid          }

Joan Leedes daughter of the said deceased in her sickness                    }

 

Item paid to John Reade for keeping the aforesaid                               }

Joan Leedes by the space of one whole year being all                          }

that time sick and diseased and of years not able                                   }                                            

to get anything                                                                                        }

 

Item paid for the fees of administration taken of the                                }

goods of the said deceased for the obligations thereon                              

for registering and…………the inventory and the                                 }

Sumners(?)fee and for the charges of his accompaniment                      }

and his sureties travelling thereabouts                                                    }

 

Item paid unto Timothy Leedington for writing the                                }

inventory of the goods of the said deceased and after                             }

Everything touching the said deceased the sum of                                  }

 

Item paid unto goodwife Leedes the widow of the said                          }

William Leedes deceased for money due to her by the said                   }

Deceased immediately after his death by bond made                      }

unto one of the…………..friends of the said Widow the sum of           }

 

Item paid to William Borre for debt due & owing to                    }

Him by the said deceased at his death by two bonds                    }

 

Item paid to Richard Crothall of the Parish of Benenden                        }

For debt due to him by the said deceased at his death                              }

By Bond the sum of                                                                                   }

 

Item paid to John Carpenter  of Biddenden for debt due                          }

& owing to him by the said deceased at his death by Bond                     }

 

Item paid to William Day of Benenden for debt due &                           }

owing to him by the said deceased at his death by bond                         }

Item paid to Walter Evenden (?) for a debt due & owing                                }

By the said deceased at his death by a bond the sum of                           }

 

Item paid to D………Weller for debts due &                                         }

owing by the said decease at his death by bond                                      }

 

Item this accompaniment humbly prayeth to be allowed                                            

for debt due & owing to himself by the said deceased                              }

At the time of his death the sum of                                                          }

 

Item paid and to be paid unto Walter Everenden of the                           }

Parish  of ……………………for debts due & owing to him by the       }

Said deceased at his death by bond the sum of                                        }

 

Item paid unto Lawrence Benet servant of the said deceased              }

for wages & due & owing to him by the said deceased at his                }

Death                                                                                                        }

 

Item paid more  to the said  Lawrence Benet for debts due         }

& owing to him by the said deceased at his death                                   }

 

Item paid unto Timothy Leedington for debt due & owing                    }

To him by the said deceased at the time of his death                              }

 

Item this accompaniment  humbly payeth allowance for                                 

his charges in travelling and riding often times about                     }

the administration of the goods of the said deceased &                        }

payment of his debts the sum of                                                             }

 

Item paid for the process and sureties fee                                          }

In calling this accompaniment to make accompaniment                   }

 

Item paid for drawing this account in form to exhibit                         }

unto the court for the…………..and probate fee to                              }

do the………..as after for registering  and…………this                       }

account in presentment which the…………of and other                       }

fees thereabouts the sum of                                                                    }

So it may plainly approve that this accompaniment hath                   }

faithfully and fully administered all the goods and chattels                    }

of the aforementioned William Leedes deceased and that he             }

is in ………..that is hath paid and laid out more       }

then the goods and chattels of the said deceased                                    }

amount unto the sum of                                                          }
