In the name of
God Amen the
seventh day of
September in the
one and
thirtieth year
of the reign of
our sovereign
lady Elizabeth
(Queen of
England Scotland
France and
Ireland defender
of the Faith I
Martha Leedes of
Halden in the
County of Kent
widow being inn
perfect mind and
in good
remembrance
thanks be unto
God therefore do
make and ordain
this my last
will and
testament in
manner and form
following that
is to say first
I commend my
soul unto all
mighty God my
maker and
redeemer and my
body to be
buried in the
churchyard of
Halden aforesaid
Item I bequeath
to the poor
men’s box of the
parish of Halden
aforesaid three
pounds
Item I bequeath
unto twenty poor
maidens born or
to be born
within the said
Parish of Halden
aforesaid twenty
nobles whereof I
will to every of
them six
shillings eight
pence to be paid
at the day of
their marrying
whereof I will
Joan Milton(?)
to be one to be
paid within one
month after my
decease.
Item I bequeath
unto Edward my
sisters son one
flock bed one
bolster and one
coverlet
Item I bequeath
unto Elizabeth
my sister’s
daughter one
flock bed one
bolster one
blanket and one
pair of sheets
and if either
the said Edward
and Elizabeth be
now deceased
that then the
foresaid goods
remain unto
their children.

two platters two
pewter dishes
two saucers
candlestick and
one kettle to be
given in form
aforesaid

in ready money

the said Edward

three shillings

them refuse to

decision that
they shall make
that then I will

surviving have
the benefit of
my present will
and testament

to the contrary

my sole executor
