This is the Last Will and Testament of me GEORGE LEE of Cotherstone in the parish of Romaldkirk in the County of York joiner made this 27 August 1788. I give and bequeath all my personal Estate (except my Chest with the tools belonging to my trade now at Hull or wheresoever the same may be at the time of my decease which I give and bequeath unto JAMES PARMERLEY) money and securities for money unto my Sister JANE SMITHIS charged and chargeable with the payment of my debts and Funeral Expences I give and devise all my Freehold and Copyhold or Customary messuages lands tenements and hereditaments situate .. in the townships or parishes of Middleton in Teesdale and Norton both in the County of Durham unto JOHN PRATT of Darlington in the same County Chymist and Druggist and JOSHUA WILSON of Cotherstone ..... Upon Trusts to lett and demise the land tenements and hereditaments to any person who shall be willing to take the same ... for the best price ... not exceeding seven years ... and the money to arise and be produced from the rents and profits ... to pay and apply unto my Sister JANE SMITHIS for and during her natural life ... subject to the annuity of £8 to my Aunt HANNAH LAMBERT for and during the term of her natural life .... in case WILLIAM LAMBERT husband of my said Aunt HANNAH shall survive her the premises chargeable to be payable to him £4 during the term of his natural life .... And the same Freehold and Copyhold premises shall be in Trust after the decease of my Sister JANE SMITHIES for the child or children of her body lawfully begotten... and in case JOHN SMITHIES husband of my said sister shall survive her that he shall be paid one annuity of £8 ... and if JANE shall die leaving no children .... In trust for the said WILLIAM LAMBERT, HANNAH LAMBERT and JOHN SMITHIES in equal portions ... during their joint lives and the life of the longer liver of them subject to the trusts aforesaid. I give and devise the same freehold and copyhold lands to the heir at law of my late Uncle MARK NEWBY .... I appoint my sister JANE SMITHIES sole executrix of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former and other wills by me made In Witness whereof I have to this my list Will and Testament set my hand and seal.
