This is the Last Will and Testament of me ANN
LEE of Eglestone in County Durham widow made 23 October 1768. I give
and bequeath my ready money security for money book debts household
furniture and all other Personal estate of What kind or nature unto
PETER ALLASON and JOHN JOPLING both of Cotherstone In Trust to pay
my debts and Funeral expences and as to the Residue ... In Trust to
be applied towards the education and maintenance of my children.
I give devise and appoint all and every my
messuages lands tenements and hereditaments in the parish of Norton
in the parish of Stockton or Middleton in Teesdale in the County
aforesaid ... whether Copyhold or Freehold late the estates oF ISAAC
TODD and my Brother MARK NEWBY deceased and all my estates rights
and interest ... unto PETER ALLASON and JOHN JOPLING In Trust to
apply yearly rents ... to the maintenance and education of my
children .... until my son GEORGE LEE attains 21 years ... and
immediate payment of £250 to be paid to PETER ALLASON and JOHN
JOPLING .... In Trust for the use of my younger children when they
attain 21 years .... £100 to my son JOHN LEE and £50 a piece to my
three daughters JANE LEE, NANCY LEE and MALLE LEE at the end of 12
months after the death and decease of ANN TODD widow of ISAAC TODD
and my Sister ANN NUBY the aforesaid estates and premises shall also
be chargeable with payment of £190 to my son GEORGE LEE and £50 to
my three daughters and if there is insufficient to bring up and
maintain and educate my children in a decent manner I hereby
authorise and impower my trustees to mortgage or sell the premises
in Middleton or Copyhold closes in Norton called Dykes ... [the
trustees] to deduct retain and reimburse him or themselves all such
costs charges damages expences ... Lastly I appoint PETER ALLASON
and JOHN JOPLING joint Executors of this my Last Will and Testament
in witness whereof I the said ANN LEE have set my hand and seal the
day and year above written.
