William Lede the elder
of Benenden in whole
mind and good
remembrance thanked be
God make my testament
and last will in this
wise first I bequeath my
soul to God Almighty our
lady Saint Mary and all
the saints of Heaven and
my body to be buried in
the churchyard of Saint
George of Benenden
aforesaid Also I
bequeath to the high
alter for my tithes
forgotten and
negligently withholden
20d.
Item I bequeath to any
of my godchildren 4d
also I will that
Silvestre my wife shall
have all my stuff of
household. I will that
Walter Lede my son pay
to his mother 13s.8d. a
year time of her life to
be paid quarterly.
Also I will that Edward
Lede my son have my
woodland being in a wood
called Bylond Wood in
Rolvenden upon the dene
of Benenden in fee
simple.
Also I will that William
Lede my son have 4 acres
of my wood which I
bought of John Crouchman
late of Rolvenden and
the said William to
sell it within the space
of 14 years after my
decease.
Also I will that Walter
Lede my son have 4 acres
of my wood the which I
bought of John Kincheham
late of Rolvenden and
the said Walter to sell
it within the space of
14 years after my
decease and if the said
William & Walter do
defayle within the term
of 14 years above said I
will the said wood
remain to Edward Lede my
son.
Also I will that Walter
Lede my son shall pay to
the children of Richard
Oxley 40s that is to
say Alice Oxley 13s 4d.
Item to John Oxley 13s
4d.
Item to William Oxley
13s 4d to be paid when
they come the age of 18
years and each of them
be others heir.
The residue of my goods
my debts bequests and
funeral expenses first
paid I bequeath to
Edward Lede and Walter
Lede my sons the which I
make my executors
