The Will of Joane Leades
 

In dei nomine Amen. the 18th day of May in the year of our lord God MDXLVI   I Johan Leade of the parish of Northgate in the City of Canterbury whole of mind & memory but sick of body do make this my last will & testament in manner & form following. First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God to our blessed lady & to all the companying in heaven and my body to be buried in the Christ Churchyard in Canterbury. Item I bequeath to the high alter of St.Georges  in Canterbury iiiid. Item I bequeath to Elizabeth Hilary a little brass pot a skillet with a handle a dozen trenchers six spoons iiid wooden dishes. Item that George Leads have of the said Elizabeth’s a frying pan & a pair of pothooks. And all the residue of my goods my debts & bequests paid & my funeral fulfilled I give and bequeath to Robert Danyell my son in law and Thomasyn his wife whom I make & ordain my true & faithful executors they to do for my soul & and all Christian souls as they think best. Item the ix £ that my son Edward Leade doth owe unto me Johan his mother to be paid by him at the feast of Pentecost next coming in lawful money of England which sum of ix £ over & above 20s yearly from the feast of Pentecost aforesaid due to me by the said Edward during my life to be paid I do also give to Robert Danyell & to his wife the residue of my goods I will to be at the disposition of my executors forsaid.
