The Will & Inventory of Thomas Lathom

 

In the name of god Amen Upon the 20th day of December in the yeare of our lord god one thousand fyve hundreth foure score and nyne I Thomas Lathom of Billinge within the parich of wigan and w’thin the ountie of Lanc’r Sick in body but of good perfecte memory god be praysed doe now make this my laste will and testamente in maner and forme followinge

Firste I comend my soule to almyghte god my maker and redeemer by whose merite death and passion I truste to be saved And my Body I comitt to be buryed in the Cappell or Chappell yord of hollande  It’m it is my will and mynd that my exec’ deale pennis dole for mee  It’m it is my will and mynde that my howse beinge taken unto Thomas Lathom sonne of Robert Lathom my sonne of my whole goods  And the residue of all my goods moveable and unmoveable shalbe devyded into three equall parts whereof one parte I will to be res’ved unto my self An other parte I geve and bequeath unto Thomas Nalior and Henry Lathom to the onely use of Elizabeth wyefe of my sonne Robert she useinge her selfe as an honest woman The third and last parte I doe geve and bequeath unto Thomas Lathom William Lathom Alice Lathom Elene Lathom and Anne Lathom Children of my sonne Rob’te now not havinge the use of his reason god be mercifull unto him and and to such other children as he shall lawfully begett by his wyefe if is soe fortune  It’m it is my will That Thomas Lathom sonne of my sonne Rob’te shall repay unto myne exec’ to the onely use of all his brethren and sisters lawfully begotten and to be begotten ..yther ..... the ....... of the said Thomas or else to be made upon the ground  All such somes of money as shalbe distrusted in takeinge A lease of my tenem’t and the same somes equally to be distributed amongest them his said brethren and sisters  It’m I geve and bequeath unto Peter Barnes my s’vante 6s  8d in money if the said Peter be contented to dwell and to s’ve me and my daughter in ........ faythfully  It’m it is my will and mynde that all my goods Remayne whollytogether untill such tyme as Alice Lathom eldest daughter of my sonne Rob’te doe come and attayne unto the full age of 2 yeares to the bringeinge upp of the said Children  It’m it is my will and mynde that soe moch of my owne parte as armaynethe over my funerall Chardges shalbe equally devyded amongest Will’m Lathom Alice Lathom  Elene Lathom and Anne Lathom Children of my sonne Rob’te And such other Children as shalbe begotten heafter betwixt my said sonne and his wyeffe And I doe constitute ordeyne and make my welbeloved in Christe Thomas Nalior sonne of Richard Nalior of Upholland w’thin the Countie of Lanc’ yoeman And Henry Lathom of Rayneforth w’thin the said countie yoeman my true and lawfull executors of this my last will and testament who I truste will see it fullfilled as my trust is in them  In witnesse of these persons followinge vid will’m Burton
