In the Name of God Amen I Richard Lanning of Kington Magna in the County of Dorset Carpenter considering the great uncertainty of this mortal Life and being of sound and perfect mind and memory, Blessed be Almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) I give and devise unto my Wife during her Life my house and little meadow adjoining lying in Nyland within the parish of Kington Magna aforesaid and after her decease I give and devise unto my eldest son John Lanning the said house and meadow and to his heirs for ever. And I do hereby charge my said house and meadow with the payment of the following sums (that is to say) to my son Robert the sum of six pounds and to my daughter the sum of ten pounds and to my sons Thomas and William Lanning the sum of twelve pounds to each of them. All which sums are to be paid out of my said Estate by my son John within a year after the death of my wife. Item I give unto my wife during her life my house in which I dwell and all belonging to it and which I hold by lease for three lives under Edward Walter Esq and after her death I give the said house to my son Robert during his life and after him I give the same to my son Thomas. All the rest of my goods Chattels and effects I give unto my wife whom I make the Executrix of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the twenty eighth day of March one thousand seven hundred and sixty six.
