This is the last Will and Testament of me
Sarah Lambert of Millfield East Cowes in the Isle of Wight Widow
made this twenty fifth day of November in the Year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven I appoint my friends
Bettsworth Pitt Shearer of Brading in the Isle of Wight Esquire
and the Reverend William Nourse of Clapham Rectory in the County
of Sussex Clerk Executors of this my Will and request them to
pay all my just debts and funeral and testamentary expences I
confirm in all respects the settlement and provision heretofore
made in favour of my late dear Niece Mrs Northfort and her
surviving daughter And I give the following small tokens of
regard to my friends undermentioned that is to say To my friend
Mrs Shearer Mother of Mr Bettsworth Pitt Shearer nineteen
Guineas and her Sister Lady Huntingdon nineteen Guineas To Mrs
Nourse the wife of the Reverend William Nourse nineteen Guineas
To Mrs Evans wife of Mr Evans of the Royal Academy nineteen
Guineas and to Miss Hill daughter of Mr Hill of Mile End
Portsmouth nineteen Guineas I give to my Servant Elizabeth Cave
if living with me at the time of my decease ffifty Pounds in
addition to twenty pounds which I have without her knowledge
placed in the Newport Savings Bank in the Name of Mr Nourse as
her Trustee and to my Servant John Gustar if living with me at
the time of my decease ffive pounds And I request each of my
Executors to accept nineteen Guineas as a small acknowledgement
of their kindness in undertaking the trust I give my
dwellinghouse and premises in Pafoots Court Hawk Street Portsea
with the appurtenances and my seat in Saint John’s Chapel
Portsea to my nephew William Lambert Deacon his heirs and
assigns absolutely for everAnd I give and bequeath All the
Residue of my Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever real
as well as personal unto the said Bettsworth Pitt Shearer and
William Nourse their heirs executors administrators and assigns
according to the nature and tenure thereof respectively Upon
trust for all the children of the said William Lambert Deacon
equally to be divided between them share and share alike and for
their heirs executors administrators and assigns respectively
Provided that if any of them shall die under the age of twenty
one years without leaving issue that share shall lapse to the
others and provided that during their respective minorities the
trustees shall have power to apply the test of their presumptive
shares towards their respective maintenance and provided the
trustees shall have power to advance to each child on attaining
the age of twenty one years the sum of one hundred pounds
notwithstanding the share shall not have vested in possession
And I give to my trustees full power to sell and dispose of any
part of my real or personal property at their discretion and
direct that all acts deeds releases receipts and other things
done or given by them or the survivor of them or the heirs or
assigns shall be good and effectual and completely indemnify any
purchaser And that they shall have full power to vary any
securities in which the trust property may at any time be vested
And to do all other acts which they may deem expedient for the
performance of the trusts of this my Will And I direct that they
shall be entitled to all usual and proper reimbursements and
indemnities In Witness whereof I the said Sarah Lambert have
hereunto subscribed our name and affixed my seal the day and
