In the Name of God Amen. I JOHN KIRKBY of
Hammer in the parish of East Witton in the County of York yeoman
being of sound and perfect mind and memory do make this as and for
my last will and testament in manner and form following (that is to
say) I give and devise unto STEPHEN SHIELDS, GEORGE KENDRAY and
WILLIAM TEASDALE being all my grandsons all my house and tenement
with the garth and all apprutenances thereunto belonging at
Ellingstring in the parish of Masham ... share and share alike. Item
I give unto my daughter ELLIN BUCKLE the sum of 5 shillings and to
my daughter PHILLIS SHIELDS I give the sum of 1 guinea which two
legacies shall be paid 6 months after my decease out of my personal
estate by my executors hereinafter named . Item I give and devise
unto MICHAEL TEASDALE of Hammer all my money securities for money
plate linen wearing apparel and all other my personal estate
whatsoever and wheresoever in trust for my grandson WILLIAM TEASDALE
till he shall arrive at the age of 21 years , he the said MICHAEL
TEASDALE paying the above named legacies at the expiration of 6
months after my decease out of my personal estate all my just debts
funeral expences and probate of this my Last will and testament ....
Item my will and pleasure is that if my grandson WILLIAM TEASDALE
shall die before he arrive at 21 years then the said MICHAEL
TEASDALE shall divide my personal estate which shall remain in his
hand equally betwixt my two grandsons STEPHEN SHIELDS and GEORGE
KENDRAY share and share alike and my will and pleasure is that the
said MICHAEL TEASDALE be the sole executor of this my last will and
testament .... in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
seal this 4th April 1786
