The Will of Warcup Kirkbride

 

This is the last will and testament of me WARCUP KIRKBRIDE of Mount Pleasant House in the parish of Startforth in the County of York gentleman. I do hereby charge and make chargeable all my Real and Personal Estate with payments of my just debts and funeral expences and subject thereto I give and devise all my Real Estate land and tenements in the parishes of Startforth and Colby in Westmorland unto my daughter BARBARA THOMPSON the wife of Mr THOMAS THOMPSON of Greta Bridge To Hold the same unto the use of her BARBARA THOMPSON .... for her sole and separate use ... and I give unto my said daughter .... all my Personal estate and effects .... and hereby revoke all former wills and testaments by me made at any time I do declare this only to be my Last Will and Testament of which I do appoint my said daughter sole executrix In witness whereof I have herunto set my hand and seal this 18 January 1804

His tomb stone is in Startforth as follows -

Beneath here are deposited the mortal remains of Warcup Kirkbride of Mount Pleasant 56 years an eminent schoolmaster who died 20 January 1804 aged 84 years.
