The Will of Edward Kimpton

 

This is the last will and Testament of me Edward Kimpton of Elsworth in the County of Cambridge ffarmer I hereby revoke all Wills and Testamentary Dispositions made by me at any time heretofore and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament I give and bequeath unto my dear Wife Elizabeth Kimpton the sum of one thousand pounds to and for her own absolute use and disposal to be paid to her immediately after my decease And I give and bequeath All the Rest and Residue of my Personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and of what nature soever after payment of all my just debts and funeral and testamentary expences and the aforesaid legacy to my Wife unto my said Wife her executors administrators and assigns upon trust with all convenient speed after my decease to sell dispose of and convert into money so much thereof as shall be in its nature saleable and to collect get in and receive the residue thereof and to lay out and invest the monies to arise from such sale and to be collected got in and received in her or their name or names on Government or real securities with power to vary and alter such securities from time to time at her or their discretion and to pay the yearly income of the said trust monies to George Kimpton my reputed son who now lives with me or apply the same for his maintenance and benefit until he shall attain the age of twenty four years and to pay the principal of the said trust monies to him at that age and if he shall die under that age to divide the principal of the said trust monies amongst all my Nephews and Nieces in equal shares And I nominate and appoint my said Wife sole Executrix of this my will provided always and my will is that my said Wife and her executors administrators and assigns shall be answerable for her or his own acts and defaults only……..In witness whereof I the said Edward Kimpton have to this my last will and Testament contained in this one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this sixth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred thirty nine Edward Kimpton

Be it known to all Men by these presents that I Edward Kimpton formerly of Elsworth in the County of Cambridge and now residing at Bourn in the said County ffarmer have made and declared my last Will and Testament in writing bearing date the sixth day of June 1839 in which my reputed son is mentioned by the name of George Kimpton being his Christian names his surname Harrup being omitted and to exclude all doubts as to who was the person intended by the name of George Kimpton in my will aforesaid I have added the surname of Harrup in this my codicil to George Kimpton Harrup all the benefits of my said Will in which he is mentioned by the name George Kimpton only with the exception that in addition to the one thousand pounds bequeathed to my dear Wife Elizabeth Kimpton in my Will aforesaid I do further give and bequeath to my said Wife all my household furniture plate glass books and wearing apparel whatsoever and wheresoever her heirs and assigns for ever And my will and meaning is that this codicil be adjudged to be a part and parcel of my last will and Testament Witness my hand this twenty seventh day of December 1847 Edward Kimpton
