Kenion of Haydocke in the Parish of winwick and County of Lancs
being at this p’sent sickly and distempered in body And
Considering that death is most Certayne but the time there of
uncertaine And therefore for the avoiding of all Conran’sis and
Contentions wh’ch after my decease might otherwise happen to
...... and grow betweene my wife and/Children or amongst my
Children onely for about or Concerning my Lands Tenem’ts Leases
goods/chattells and debts or some p’te thereof And for the
better stateing setling and disposeing of the same first hereby
revoking and makeing void all former and other will and wills
Testament and/Testam’ts gifts legacies and bequests by mee at
anytyme heretofore ordayned made given or bequeathed in any wise
doe Constitute appoynt ordaine publish and declare this to bee
my last will & Testam’t in manner and forme following And first
and principally I Commend my Soule into the hands of Almighty
god mercifull and heavenly father hopeing and aseuredly beliving
that through the suffering of Jesus Christ his onely son and my
redeem’ and advocate I shall have full and free pardon and
remission of all my sinnes and the same washed away in his
pretious blood and shall be made an heire of heaven and numbered
among the Elect saints And my body I Committ unto the Earth
from whence it Came to be decently buried according to the
discreation of my friends and Executors hereafter named And as
for and Concerning my Messuage Lands and inheritance edifices
and buildings with the appu’tenances whatsoev’ situate lyeing &
being within Abram in the said County of Lancs together w’th all
the deeds Evidences & escripts Concerning the same I doe hereby
give bequeath will and appoynt unto Peter Kenion my eldest son
and his heires and assignes for ever To enter upon the same so
soone as hee shall acomplish the age of one and twenty yeares
And in the meane tyme it is my mynd and will that my Executors
hereafter named shall Collect levy receive and take order and
dispose of the Cleare yearely issues and profitts thereof
Comming and arryseing To and for the uses hearafter men’coned
That is to say ten pounds thereof I would have paid to John Lyon
watch-maker to make up the five pounds which hee oweth mee
fifteene pounds which is the last payment which shall be due &
payable .... him with the said Peter my son And moreov’ I will
that forth and out of the issues and p’fitts thereof alsoe the
said Peter bee mantayned and supplyed with decent and Convenient
apparrel both Lynnan and woollen dureing all the tyme of his
apprentiship And the residue & ov’plus of the issues and
p’fitts thereof Comeing and arryseing Iwould have my Ex’rs to
improve to and for the best p’fiit and advantage of Henry Kenion
my youngest son for the adding of his life into the Lease of
Haydocke howse or otherwise as shall bee most for his benefitt
And as for and Concerning my messuage and Tenem’t Edifices and
buildings with thappu’tenances whatsoev’ scituate and being in
Ashton in makerfield I doe hereby give and bequeath appoynt and
assigne ov’ unto James Kenion my second son his executors and
assignes for and dureing all the remayning terme of yeares for
which I old the same by Lease together with the same lease as
alsoe all the ...... houshold goods and utensells there standing
being and remayning And as for and Concerning all other my
p’sonall estate in goods Cattell debts and utensells whatsoev’
I doe here by order give bequeath and dispose of in manner and
forme hereafter declared and first of all I would have my debts
and funerall expences discharged and paid forth and out of the
whole That being done I doe give and bequeath to James Kenion
my said second son the sume of fiftie pounds of moneyes due to
mee by the last will and Testament of William Wood my father in
law deceased Item I give and bequeath unto Henry Kenion my
youngest son all my standing goods in Haydock howse where I now
live That is to say Tables bedsteads Cupboards and Irone grates
And for the rest and residue of all my said cattell debts and
utensells whatsoev’ not before disposed of I would devided into
three p’tes the third part whereof I give to Sarah my wife the
second p’te whereof I give to Margaret my elder daughter and the
third and last part thereof I give to Lydia my younger daughter
And the said two p’tes given to my said two daughters I would
have my executors to improve to and for theire best p’fitt and
advantage dureing theire minoritie Item I doe hereby will order
and appoynt that Gilbert Banks and Robt. Rasbothome two of the
Ex’rs hereafter named shall have allowed unto them twelve pence
a day for ev’y day they or either of them shall goe out or bee
taken of from theire labours about any business relating to
this my Testam’t forth and out of that part and portion of goods
or moneys belonging to the p’son or p’sons about whom or in
whose business they are most imployed And I doe hereby ordaine
Constitute appoynt and make Sarah my said wife and the said
Gilbert Banks and Robert Rasbothome my true and Lawfull Execut’s
to execute p’forme fulfill and accomplish this my last will and
Testam’t in all things according to my mynd and will herein
declared as my trust is in them And I desire my loving friends
Mr. Peter Aspinwall Edmund Winstanley and Willm. Wood my brother
in law to be ov’seers to see to and take notice of that the same
be by my s’d Ex’rs executed p’formed fulfilled & accomplished
accordingly And for the better strengthning & Corroborating
hereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale the tenth day of
September in the seaven & twentieth yeare of the Reigne of our
sov’aigne Lord Charles the second ov’ Englnad etc. Anno Domini
