Be it remembered that I GEORGE KAY of Richmond
in the County of York being of sound and disposeing mind and memory
do make this my Last Will and testament in manner following that is
to say my will and mind is that my body be decently interred at the
discretion of my executor hereinafter named. I give and bequeath to
the Poor Housekeepers of Richmond the sum of £10 to be payd by my
executor on Martinmas Day next after my decease. I Give devise and
bequeath unto my nephew ROBERT DAVISON son on Mrs MARY DAVISON all
my messuages land and tenements whatsoever and wheresoever ....
chargeable with the payment of my just debts funeral expences and
legacys. I give and devise and bequeath to WILLIAM DAVISON and ANN
DAVISON brother and sister to the said ROBERT DAVISON £100 each to
be payd to them respectively at the death of the said MARY DAVISON
their mother. But my will is that the sum of £200 be in the meantime
placed out at interest upon good security and the interest ... paid
to the hands of MARY DAVISON during the term of her natural life ...
and if ROBERT DAVISON should dye before me then I give the estate
... to WILLIAM DAVISON .... and the legacy above given to him
WILLIAM DAVISON to be payd to his sister THOMASIN DAVISON .... I
give to my Good Friend JOHN METCALFE Esq of Richmond £50 and to each
of his sisters £5 as a token of my friendship and great regard for
them. I also give to my maid servant MARY PARKER £10 and all my
shirts stocks and handkerchiefs and the chest of drawers which
stands in the Green Room. All the legacys so given to the Mr
METCALFE his four sisters and MARY PARKER I order to be paid by my
executor within six months after my decease and all my personal
estate of what nature or kind soever and subject to the payment of
my just debts funeral expences and the several legacys .... I give
the same to my nephew ROBERT DAVISON whom I make my sole executor of
this my Last Will and Testament In Testimony whereof I have hereby
set my hand and seal this 8 January 1747

Codicil
Be it remembered that I GEORGE KAY ... being
of sound and disposing mind I do add this codicil. I give and
bequeath to my cousin JOHN KAY the Dyer the house in Newbiggin
wherein he now lives for and during his natural life and I do hereby
release and quit claim to all rent and arrears of rent due to me for
the same to the day and date hereof ... 19 April 1749.
