The Will of John Justican

 

This is the last will and Testament of me John Justican Butler to the Revd John Hopkins Clerk of Leigh House Bradford Wilts with whom I have lived upwards of Twenty three years in that capacity Whereas I have one hundred and ninety nine pounds fifteen shillings in the Devon Exeter Savings Bank drawn and accepted by responsible parties for one hundred and fifty pounds and Interest at five per cent ( the Interest upon which bill I have received up the the sixth of May last) and I have other moneys not out at Interest which with money on my Banker’s hands will altogether amount to nearly five hundred pounds. Now I give and bequeath the whole thereof to my beloved wife Sarah Justican she paying thereout my just debts and funeral expenses and the following legacies which I give accordingly namely To my Brother in Law James Stroud Five Pounds To my Sister Kezia Holmes Five pounds  To my sister Ann Justican Five pounds To my Sister Sarah Ellford Five pounds To my old friend and fellow servant William Blackmar one pound To my old friend and fellow servant Eliza Cheater one pound And I make ordain constitute and appoint my beloved wife sole Executrix of this my Will In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the ninth day of October one thousand eight hundred and fifty six _ John Justican
