The Will of Abigail Jordan

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Abigail Jordan of the City of Chester Widow which I make in manner and form following that is to say I give to Lloyd Pate of the said City of Chester Builder the Sum of ten Pounds to Richard Roberts of the same City hair Dresser the Sum of ffive Pounds and to Ellen Roberts of the same City Widow (Mother of the said Richard Roberts) the Sum of ffive Pounds to buy themselves Mourning and I give to my Servant Ann Cornes (if she shall be living with me at the time of my death) the Sum of ten Pounds to buy herself Mourning I give and bequeath one Annuity or Clear Yearly Sum of twenty Pounds to my half Sister Sarah Pate Wife of the said Lloyd Pate and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life to be paid and payable half Yearly by my Executors hereinafter named the first payment thereof to be made at the end of Six Calendar months next after my decease and it is my will and I direct that the same shall be for her and their own use and benefit independent of the said Lloyd Pate her husband and in every respect free from his power Control debts and Engagements and for which the receipt and receipts of the said Sarah Pate or her Assigns notwithstanding her Coverture shall from time to time be a good and effectual discharge I also give and bequeath to Sarah Pate daughter of the said Lloyd Pate the Sum of two hundred Pounds for her own absolute use and benefit to be paid to her at the end of twelve Calendar months next after my decease and I hereby charge and make Chargeable my real and Personal Estate (except my money in the funds) with the payment of the said Annuity and legacy of two hundred pounds I also give and bequeath to the said Richard Roberts the Several Sums of Eight hundred Pounds and two hundred Pounds (making together One thousand Pounds) Capital Stock standing in the name of my late husband James Jordan deceased in the three Per Cent Consolidated bank Annuities for his absolute use and benefit and to be at his own Sole disposal I also give to the said Richard Roberts my said late husbands Gold Watch and as to all the rest and residue of my Personal Estate and Effects of every description and also all and Singular my real and Leasehold Estates I give devise and bequeath the same and every part thereof (Subject to the Payments of my just debts and ffuneral and testamentary expences) unto and to the use of George Hastings of the said City of Chester Brazier and tin Man his Executors Administrators and Assigns absolutely according to the nature and quality of the same Estates respectively I appoint the said George Hastings and Thomas Bradford of the said City of Chester Esquire Executors of this my Will and hereby revoke all former Wills by me made In Witness whereof I the said Abigail Jordan have hereunto set my hand and Seal the twenty first day of August in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty Abigail Jordan
