The Will of Sarah Jones

 

In the Name of God Amen The thirty first day of January 1802 _ I Sarah Jones of the Brook side in the parish of Old Radnor and County of Radnor Single Woman being so very sick and weakly of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed to all Men to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial by my Executor nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form ffirst I give and bequeath to my Brother Joseph Jones the Sum of Ten Pounds also I give to my Brother in Law Thomas Hargest the Sum of Ten Pounds also I give and bequeath to my Nephew Thomas Hargest the Sum of Ten Pounds also I give to his two Sons John Hargest and Thomas Hargest five pounds each also I give to Mary Jones Daughter of Thomas Hargest Joiner the Sum of ten pounds and I give to Sarah Jones Daughter of Mary Jones the Sum of ten pounds if she should live longer than her Mother and if she should die before her Mother to have the ten pounds for her private use and also I give the said Mary Jones all  my Close and Wearing Apparel I also chuse and appoint my Nephew Thomas Hargest my sole Executor and he to bury me and my ffuneral expences to be paid of the principal of my Property and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former Testaments Wills Legacies bequests and Executors by me in any ways before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written The Mark of X Sarah Jones
