is the last Will and
Testament of me John
Johnson of Thame in the
County of Oxford. I
direct that all and just
debts funeral and
testamentary expenses by
paid and satisfied by my
Executors hereinafter
named as soon as
conveniently may be
after my decease and I
give devise and bequeath
all and every my
household furniture
linen and wearing
apparel books plate
pictures china hoses
carts and carriages and
also all my book debts
money or bonds bills
notes or other
securities and all
removable articles in my
dwelling house at the
time of my decease unto
my two sons William
Johnson and Stephen John
Johnson their heirs and
assigns for ever and I
give devise and bequeath
also to my said sons
William Johnson and
Stephen John Johnson all
that my messuage or
tenement now occupied by
me and situate in New
thame in the parish of
Thame in the county of
Oxford with the
buildings and
appertanences and also
all that my close or
parcel of Woodboro
Ground situate in Old
Thame in the parish of
Thame in the County of
Oxford now in my own
occupation with the
buildings and
appurtenances thereto
belonging to hold to
them my said sons
William Johnson and
Stephen John Johnson
their heirs and assignes
for ever and as to my
said household furniture
linen and wearing
apparel books plate
pictures china horses
carts and carriages and
also all my book debts
money or bonds bills
notes or other
securities I charge the
same absolutely and as
to the said messuage or
tenement now occupied by
me and the said close or
parcel of meadow ground
also in my own
occupation I charge the
same during the life of
my wife Susannah Wain
Johnson with the payment
to my said wife during
her life of one …
annuity of Fifty pounds
of lawful British money
to be paid to my said
wife by four quarterly
payments on the
twentyfirst day of
March, the twenty fourth
day of June, the twenty
ninth day of September
and the twenty fifth day
of December in every
year the first quarterly
payment thereof to be
made on such of the said
days of payment as shall
first happen after my
decease. I give unto my
daughter Elizabeth Sarah
Hunt (or Stait?) all
that my messuage or
tenement situate in New
Thame in the parish of
Thame in the County of
Oxford now in the
occupation of Mary
Nichols with the
buildings and
appurtenances thereto
belonging to hold to her
my said daughter
Elizabeth Sarah Hunt her
heirs and assignes for
ever. I give and devise
unto my daughter
Susannah Dorcas Marsh,
wife of James Marsh all
those three cottages or
tenements situate in
Park Street in Old Thame
in the parish of Thame
and now in the
occupation of Richard
Biggerstaff William
Squires and Thomas
Henson (?) with the
buildings and
appurtenances thereto
belonging to hold to her
my said daughter
Susannah Dorcas Marsh
her heirs and assignes
for ever and I further
give and bequeath to my
said daughter Susannah
Dorcas Marsh the legacy
or sum of Two hundred
pounds of lawful British
money to be paid to her
by my said sons William
Johnson and Stephen John
Johnson within twelve
months after my decease
or interest on the same
of four per cent per
annum and I give and
bequeath all my
securities for money and
all other … and personal
estate and effects not
hereinbefore bequeathed
of or to which I may be
entitled or that or
possessed at my decease
unto my said sons
William Johnson and
Stephen John Johnson
their executors
administrators and
assignes for ever
subject only to the
annuity before mentioned
to my said wife and the
aforesaid legacy to my
said daughter and I
nominate constitute and
appoint my two sons
William Johnson and
Stephen John Johnson to
be Executors of this my
Will and revoking
thereby all former or
other Wills and
Testaments by me at any
time heretofore made I
declare this to be my
last Will and
Testament. In witness
whereof I the said John
Johnson have to this
last Will and Testament
set my name the Twenty
seventh day of January
in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight
hundred and forty nine.
