The Will of James Jeken

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me James Jeken in the Parish of of East Langdon in the County of Kent Gentleman being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding for which God be praised I give and bequeath unto Mrs Hester otherwise Esther Jeken the Widow of my deceased Nephew James Jeken the sum of six hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to her within six months next after my decease Also I give and bequeath unto my great Niece Mary the Wife of Mr Kennett Kingsford the sum of nineteen pounds nineteen shillings of like money payable at the same time Also I give and bequeath unto Nephews and Nieces James Woodward Leonard Woodward William Woodward Susanna the Wife of Daniel Kemp Elizabeth Young Widow and Jane the Wife of John Atkins the Six Children of my deceased Sister Elizabeth Woodward the sum of nineteen pounds nineteen shillings each Also I give and bequeath unto Christian Elwin of Dover in the said County of Kent Widow of my late Nephew William Elwin deceased To Mary Lord of Dover aforesaid the Widow of my late Nephew William Lord deceased To Hannah Horle of Sandwich in the said County of Kent Widow To my present Housekeeper Elizabeth Kemp whether she shall happen to be living with me at the time of my death or not And to Henry Maxted an illegitimate Child of the said Elizabeth Kemp the sum of nineteen pounds nineteen shillings All which said several legacies I direct to be of lawful money aforesaid and to be paid within the space of six calendar months next after my death And as to all and every my freehold and leasehold Manors Messuages Rectories Parsonages Titheries Tythes Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever over whereof I am now or shall be or may be at the time of my death be seized or possessed And as to all the rest residue and remainder of my Goods Chattels ready money money in the public stocks or funds debts securities for money and all other my Personal estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever I give devise and bequeath the same and every part and parcel thereof respectively (subject as to my personal Goods Chattels and monies to the payment of the several pecuniary legacies by me hereinbefore given my just debts funeral expences and the charges of proving this my Will) unto my great Nephew James Jeken  Son of my deceased Nephew James Jeken and to his heirs Executors Administrators and assigns respectively to and for his and their own absolute use and benefit for ever according to the respective natures and qualities of the said Estates and property And I do hereby nominate and appoint my said great Nephew James Jeken   sole Executor of this my Will In Witness whereof I the said James Jekin the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament set and affixed my hand and seal this twenty sixth day of August one thousand eight hundred and twenty six_ James Jeken
