The Will of William Isard

 

In the Name of God Amen the fourth day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and twenty eight I William Isard of Ware in the County of Hertford being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling to mind the mortallity of my body and knowing that is appointed for all men to dye do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say first and principally I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it hoping thro’ the meritorious death and Passion of Jesus Christ my Saviour to receive free pardon for all my sins and as for my body I recommend to the Earth to be buryed in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection to receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Goods as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give devise and dispose in the manner and form following Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Tanner Two Pair of best Sheets and also all the Linnen in the least Chest and likewise ffifty pounds of lawfull British money to be paid to her two years after my decease and after her to her Eldest Child whether son or Daugt. But in case she shall dye before the day of Payment and without Issue that then the said fifty pounds to return to my son George Item I give and bequeath unto my God Daughter Mary .... the sume of two pounds two shillings to be paid in 0one month after my decease Item I give unto my loving son George Isard whom I likewise constitute make and ordain full and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament all the rest and residue of my moneys Goods bills bonds and debts unto me owing and all whatsoever else unto me belonging my own debts and Legacys above mentioned and my funeral Charges being thereout first defrayed by him freely to be possessed and enjoyed I do utterly revoke renounce and disallow all other former wills Legacys Executors by me before this time named ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament
