The Will of Joseph Ibbetson

 

This is the last Will and Testt of me Joseph Ibbetson of Arundell in the County of Susex Mercht whereby I mean to dispose of all my worldly Estate & Effects in manner hereinafter mentioned that is to say I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Catherine the Wife of James Knapp of Arundel aforesaid Merchant the Sum of three hundred & ffifty pounds to be paid her within twelve months next after my Decease I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Ann the Wife of William Lane of Slindon in Sussex Yeoman the Sum of ffour hundred pounds to be paid her within twelve months next after my Decease which sd sums of three hundred & ffifty pounds & ffour hundred pounds will make unto each of my Daughters with the money already advanced to them the full Sum of six hundred Pounds I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Sophia Ibbetson the Sum of eight hundred pounds & I wish that my Son Thomas Ibbetson would keep her for one year after my decease & in case he will not do so I will and direct that my said Daughter Sophia shall have & be paid full Interest for her Legacy from the Day of my Decease but if it shall happen that my said Daughter Sophia be married before my decease then instead of the said Sum of eight hundred pounds I give and bequeath to her the Sum of six hundred Pounds to be paid unto her within twelve months next after my Decease & in such Event I also give & bequeath the further Sum of two hundred pounds unto and between my said three Daughters Catherine Knapp Ann Lane & Sophia Ibbetson to be equally divided between them share & share alike within twelve months next after my Decease I give and devise unto my said Son Thomas Ibbetson his heirs & assigns for ever all my Dwellinghouses Storehouses Yard & Gardeen in Arundell aforesaid & All other my real Estate whatsoever & wheresoever charged nevertheless & I do hereby charge the same with the Payment of so much of the Legacies herein before by me given as my personal Estate will not satisfy All & Singular other my Personal Estate monies Ships Vessells books Plate Linen household Goods & ffurniture Chattles & Effects whatsoever & wheresoever I give and bequeath unto my said Son Thomas Ibbetson his Exors & Admors & as & for his own Proper Goods & Chattels I make & appoint my said Son Thomas Ibbetson full & sole Exor of this my Will In Witnsess whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal this twenty sixth day of December in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred & eight Jno Ibbetson
