The Will of John Humble

 

I John Humble of Ovingham in the County of Northumberland Shipowner do make this my last Will & Testament in manner following that is to say I do hereby order & direct that all my just Debts ffuneral Expences & the Expences of Proving & establishing this my Will shall be paid by my Executors hereinafter named out of my Estate & Effects as soon as conveniently may be after my decease & I do hereby order & direct that all & every my Household ffurniture Plate Linen & China shall be sold immediately following my decease & the Monies arising from the Sale thereof I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Ann Atkinson the Wife of Joseph Atkinson to & for her own use & benefit Also I give & bequeath unto my dear Wife Ann Humble all the Interest or Dividends of the Sum of four hundred pounds for & during the term of her natural life in case she shall so long continue my Widow but not otherwise & from & immediately after her second Marriage or Death which shall first happen I give & bequeath the said Principal Sum of four hundred pounds unto my Grandson John Humble Atkinson (Son of my said Daughter Ann Atkinson) at his Age of twenty one Years and the Interest thereof after the second Marriage or death of my said Dear Wife to be applied in the mean time for the maintenance & Education of my said Grandson John Humble Atkinson & in case of his death under the Age of twenty one Years without leaving lawful issue him surviving then & in that case I give & bequeath the said Sum of four hundred pounds unto my said Daughter Ann Atkinson to & for her own use & benefit And I give & bequeath unto my Son William Brown Humble all & every my Ships Shipping & parts & shares of Ships with the respective Stocks & profits thereof ready Money Money in the ffunds Securities for Money & all the rest residue & remainder of my Estate & Effects whatsoever & wheresoever & of what nature or kind soever the same may be or consist To hold the same unto him my said Son William Brown Humble to & for his own use & benefit And I do hereby nominate & appoint my said Son William Brown Humble & my friend William Pearson of Stephenson Street North Shields in the said County Ship Owner joint Exors of this my Will And I hereby expressly order & direct that the said William Pearson shall & may act in every respect in the Management of my Affairs in such Way as he shall deem prudent & that my said Son shall also Act in every respect as he the said William Pearson shall deem prudent & as he shall order & direct in the management of my said Affairs And I do hereby revoke all former & other Will & Wills by me at any time or times heretofore made & do declare this to be & contain my last Will & Testament In Witness whereof I the said John Humble have hereunto set my hand & Seal this twentieth Day of January in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & sixteen _ John Humble
