The Will of George Hudson

 

In the Name of God Amen. I GEORGE HUDSON of Middleham in the County of York, Innholder, do make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say To Mr THOMAS HARRISON of Middleham merchant and WILLIAM POOLE of Little Danby in the parish of Thornton Steward I give and bequeath all my monies and securities of money household goods household furniture plate linen stock of cattle goods chattels and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever to have and to hold ... upon trusts and to and for the several uses intents and purposes hereinafter mentioned .... that is to say .... to pay thereout all my just debts and funeral expences and the charges of proving this my will and in the next place to pay to the several persons hereinafter named the several sums of money to buy mourning. That is to say to my Brother in Law JOSEPH BELL of Stokesley and MARGARET his wife £10 each To my nephew THOMAS BELL £10 to my neices ANN BELL and ELIZABETH BELL £10 each to my sister ANN FAWCETT of Stokesley widow £10 To my Brother in Law THOMAS KAY of Greenfield Street, Whitechapel London and ELIZABETH his wife £10 each and to my sister in law ELENOR NELSON £10 and after payment thereof to permit and suffer my dear wife MARGARET HUDSON to make choice of so much and such part of the said household furniture for her sole use and benefit and also of such horses or other cattle as she together with my said trustees shall adjudge to be sufficient for her convenience and comfort and suitable for her station in life. And after such choice in the next place to sell and dispose of all the stock belonging to my farm and the residue of all and singular my goods and chattels and to place out at interest upon real or other good security as well the monies which shall be raised by such sale ... and to pay the interest and proceed of the whole of such monies to my said wife MARGARET HUDSON during the term of her natural life. And upon further Trust within twelve calendar months next after the decease of my said wife to pay the following legacies .... £300 to such person or persons and in such manner and form as my said dear wife shall by any deed ... or by her last will and testament ... direct limit give and appoint .... Also to my said nephew THOMAS BELL £100  and to my neices ANN BELL and ELIZABETH BELL £50 each ... to my neice ANN KAY daughter of my said brother in Law THOMAS KAY £50 and also the legacy of £10 to BETSY HARRISON daughter of he said THOMAS HARRISON my trustee ... And upon further trust to pay and divide all the rest and residue of my said monies .... equally to and mongst my said three sisters MARGARET BELL, ANN FAWCETT and ELIZABETH KAY ..... I do hereby nominate and appoint my said wife sole executrix ..... this 11th January 1790
