This is the last Will
and Testament of me Ruth
Hopkin of the Parish of
Monmouth Widow bearing
date the fifth day of
March in the Year of our
Lord God according to
the Computation of the
Church of England One
thousand seven hundred
twenty and eight I being
in my full senses and
calling to Mind the
uncertain State of this
Transitory life and that
all things must yield
when it shall please God
to call I Principally
recommend my Soul into
the Hands of my Saviour
and Redeemer Jesus
Christ hoping at the
Joyful Resurrection to
have full and free
Pardon and forgiveness
of all my Sins And my
Body I commit to the
Earth from whence it
came to be Interred at
the discretion of my
Executrix herein after
named And I do hereby
revoke all former and
other Will or Wills by
me heretofore made in
any wise and this and no
other to be taken for
and as my last Will and
Testament And as to my
Temporal Estate I
dispose thereof as told
ffirst as for and
touching all and
singular my Messuages
Lands Tenements and
Hereditaments lying and
being in the Parish of
Clodock in the County of
Hereford I give devise &
Confirm the same and
every Part thereof with
its Appurtenances unto
my Eldest Son Phillipp
Hopkin and to his Heirs
and Assigns for ever he
the said Phillipp Hopkin
honestly and justly
Paying to my Sons Thomas
Hopkin and William
Hopkin the Sum of One
hundred Pounds of lawful
Money of Great Britain
within Twelve months
next after my decease to
be divided between them
equally which I do
hereby direct and to be
Issuing out of and to be
raised and advanced out
of that Part of Hunt
House in Clodock
aforesaid Item I give
and devise to my
daughters Katherine
Hopkin and Elizabeth
Hopkin Spinsters the Sum
of One hundred Pounds of
lawful Money of Great
Britain within Twelve
months next after my
decease to be divided
between them equally
which I do hereby direct
to be raised and
advanced out of that
Part of the said
Premises that passeth or
goeth by the Name of
Hunt House Item I give
and devise to my
daughters Katherine
Hopkin and Elizabeth
Hopkin Spinsters now
with me the Sum of One
hundred and twenty
Pounds apiece of like
money to be paid them
within Twelve months
next after my decease by
my said Executrix and
also to them both All
and singular my
Household Goods and
Stock of what kind
soever and ffurniture of
Household Rings Grain
etc to be equally
divided between them
both Item I give to my
said Daughters Katherine
and Elizabeth and to
their Heirs and Assigns
all and singular that my
Messuage or Tenement and
Lands thereto belonging
now in my Possession in
the said Parish of
Monmouth which I lately
had and Purchased of and
from Edward Davies and
ffrancis Davies by
Surrender at the Castle
Gate at Monmouth Item I
give to my said Son
Thomas Hopkin the
further Son of Eighty
Pounds of like Money to
be paid him within
twelve Months next after
my decease together with
the Interest thereof
from my death Item I
give to my Son James
Hopkin now abroad the
Sum of five Pounds of
like money to be also
paid him within twelve
Months next after my
death And of this my
last Will and Testament
I do nominate and
appoint my said Eldest
Daughter Katherine
Hopkin Spinster my sole
Executrix and Residuary
