The Will of William Holland

 

In the Name of God Amen I William Holland of the Elms in Granborow in the County of Bucks Yeoman being weakly of Body but of sound and perfect mind and memory praised be therefore given to Allmighty God do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following That is to say First and principally I commend my Soul into the hands of Allmighty God my Creator hopeing through the Merritts death and passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon and forgiveness of all my Sins and to inherit everlasting Life and my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently burried at the Discretion of my Executor hereinafter named And as touching the disposition of all such Temporal Estate as it hath pleased Allmighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose thereof as followeth Imp I will that my debts and funeral Expenses shall be paid and discharged Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary Holland the Sum of one hundred pounds of lawfull money of England to be paid her by my Executor within one year after my decease And I allsoe give and bequeath unto my said Daughter Mary one Cow and one Chest of Drawers Item I give and bequeath unto my Loveing Wife Katherine Holland all the rest and residue of my Household goods and Implements of household (except one hogshead and the Jack) to do and dispose thereof at her Will and pleasure And I do allso give and devise unto my said Wife the moiety or one half part of all the rent and rents and arrearages of rent and rents which shall be found due to me from my Tenants at East Cleyden and Cottle Cleydon in the sd County of Bucks at the time of my decease And I do further give and bequeath unto my said Wife one Annuity or yearly sum of forty shillings of lawfull money of England to be issuing and paid (during her natural Life) out of the Eight ridges of arrable lands hereafter in this my last Will mentioned and devised unto my Son Benedict Holland Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Katherine King one shilling of lawfull money of England to be paid her within one year after my Decease Item I give and bequeath unto my two Grandchildren Thomas King and Katherine King ten shillings apiece of lawfull money of England to be paid unto them within one year after my Decease Item I give devise and bequeath unto my Son Benedict Holland and his heirs forever all those my Eight ridges of arrable land with the appertenances lying and being in North Ley hades in Adams Leys fields within the parish of Grandborough aforesaid The land of Robert Hughes lying on the east part and the land of Joseph Worrall lying on the west part thereof Provided allwaies and upon Condition nevertheless That the said Benedict Holland his heirs and assignes shall and do well and truly pay or cause to be paid out of the said eight ridges of arrable land the said Annuity or yearly sum of forty shillings of lawfull money of England (during the natural Life of the said Katherine my Wife) by equal quarterly payments as aforesaid But if defaults shall be made in payments of the Said Annuity or yearly sum of fforty shillings or any part thereof contrary to the true intents & meaning of the said Provisoe or Condition Then I give devise and bequeath the Said eight Ridges of arrable land with the appertenances unto the said Katherine my Wife for and during her natural life (without impeachments of her for any manner of waste) anything in this my Last Will contained to the contrary thereof anywise notwithstanding Item I give devise and bequeath to the said Benedict my Son all that moiety or one half part of all and singular my Messuages lands Tenements and Hereditaments situate standing lying and being in the Parish and precincts of East Cleydon cum Cottle Cleydon aforesaid (which is not by Joynture settled upon my Wife) And allsoe the moiety or one half part of all Commons profits commodities and appertenances whatsoever to the said Lands tenements and hereditaments or any other of them belonging or in any wise appertaining (and not settled Joynture as aforesaid) And I doe further give and bequeath unto the said Benedict my Son all the rest and residue of my Personal Estate Goods and Chattells rights and Credits (not hereinbefore otherwise bequeathed) And I do constitute and appoint the said Benedict Holland (my Son) full and sole Executor of this my Last will and Testament And I desire my Loving Brother Henry Townsend to be Overseer of this my Last Will and Testament And I do hereby revoke & dissannull and make void all former and other Wills by me made In witness whereof I the said William Holland have to this my Last Will and Testament Sett my hand and Seal this thirteenth day of March in the year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Anne by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith Anno que Domini 1705
