The Will of Ralph Hodgson - Died 1558

 

In the name of God amen, the 21st day of April in the year of our Lord God 1558, I Ralph Hodgson of Bradford within the countie of York being of good mynd and hole memory do ordain constitute and make my last will and testament in the manner following :first I give and bequeath my soul unto God almightie my creator and redeemer, to our blessed lady and to all the holy company in heaven and my body to be buried in the church yeard in Bradfod beforesaid.

   Item I give and bequeath to the use of Elizabeth my wife by one surrender,  which I have given into the hands of Robert Rawson of Bradford, all my copyhold land so long as she keep her widow and unmarried. And if the said Elizabeth to marry then I give all the foresaid land by surrender as the aforesaid, to the use of John and Richard Hodgson my sonnes and their heirs forever. The residue of all my goods chattells and debts and my debts paid I give and bequeth to Richard John Alice Elizabeth Grace and Jenett my children. Whom with the said Elizabeth my wife I do order and make executors and executrix if this my last will and testament. Item I will that Duke (Marmaduke) Hodgson and John Wilkinson my bretheren shall ......... of this my said last will and testament. These being witness...
