............of Halifax in the
county of York, ......... do make and ordain this my last will
in manner and form following. That is to say, first and
........I commend my soul into the hands of almighty God my
creator and maker, .....by the precious death and passion of
Jesus Christ my alone saviour, hoping .....vomission of all my
sins and eternal salvation amongst the blessed children of God
in the kingdom of heaven. And my body I commit to the earth from
where it came in hope of a joyful resurrection to life eternal
at the last day (?).
AND as touching such goods and personal
estate as the Lord in mercy hath bestowed on me. First my will
and mind is that all my true and lawful debts which I do owe,
and my funeral expenses and other church duty's be paid and
discharged forth of my whole goods, which being done, my will
and mind is that I do hereby give and devise and bequeath unto
James Hodgson my son the sum of ONE shilling in full of his
right to all my goods and personal estate. AND all the remainder
of my goods and personal estate I do hereby give, devise and
bequeath unto Mary my loving wife to dispose of at her free
will and pleasure. And I do hereby appoint the said Mary my
loving wife executrix of this my last will and testament, not
doubting but that she will faithfully execute the same according
to my ..... wish. In Testimony whereof I the said MIchael
Hodgson the testator have set my hand and seal the day and
year above said 1679.
