The Will of Margaret Hodgson

 

Will of Margaret Hodgson, widow of Bolling who died 1622.

Widow of Thomas Hodgson of Bowling who died 1595.

 

In the name of God amen, the 12th day of August according to the computation of the ....... of England 1622. Therefore of Margaret Hodgson of Bolling Bradford within the countie of York, widow, being sick in body but of good and perfect remembrance praise be unto almighty God. I do ordain and make this my last will and testament in the manner and form following :first I give and commend my soul into the hands of almightie God my creator,and I commit my body to the earth from whence it came and to be buried at the direction of my children and executors.

  Now my will is for my goods and chattells in manner and form folowing

   First my will and mind is that my funeral expenses be paid and discharged out of my whole goods and chattells.

   Item I give and bequeath to James Hodgson my eldest sonne the sum of 40 shillings in full. .... of all that part or right he has of my goods and chattells.

   Item I give and bequeath to  Samuel Hodgson my sonne the sum of 10  pounds, Item I give and bequeath unto Grace Bower my daughter 10 pounds,  Item I give and bequeath unto Mary Hodgson my daughter 10 pounds of lawful English money.  Item I give and bequeath unto John Hodgson the son of Michael Hodgson deceased my late sonne the sum of five pounds.  Item I give and bequeath unto Mary Walker, Elizabeth Walker, and John Walker children of Elizabeth deceased the sum of six pounds to be divided equallie amongst them. Item I give and bequeath unto Daniel Booth the sonne of the said Elizabeth my late daughter the sum of forty shillings and my will and mind is that this sum of forty shillings shall remain in the hands and custody of Thomas Hodgson and Richard Hodgson my sonnes, but till the said Daniel Booth has come to age or died. Item I give unto Alice Hodgson daughter of Edward Hodgson deceased my late sonne the sum of three pounds. (5 crossed out). Item I give and bequeath unto Mary Bower the daughter of the said Grace Bower the sum of 40 shillings.  Item I give and bequeath unto Mary  my daughter one feather bedd, one mattress, one pair of blankets a pair of sheets and ........ bolster. and of one new bed stocks. Item I give and bequeath unto the said Grace Bower all my apparell. Item I give and bequeath unto Thomas Hodgson, Martin Hodgson, John Hodgson, Richard Hodgson and Samuel Hodgson my sonnes, Grace Bower and the said Mary Hodgson my daughter all the residue of my goods and chattells movable and immovable after my debts paid to be divided equally amongst them. And I do ordain and make the said Thomas Hodgson, Martin Hodgson, John Hodgson, Richard Hodgson and Mary Hodgson executors of this my last will and testament. And I do hereby revoke all other wills and testaments heretofore by me made in witness thereof of the said Margaret Hodgson.

           signed and given my seale  this day etc..... and in the presence of  John Hodgson,  Thomas Bower, Abraham Lister.
