In the
name of God amen, the 7th day of July in the year of our Lord
God 1552, by James Hodgson of Bolling in the
parish of Bradford. I do ordain and make this my last
will and testament in the manner and form following :first I
give and bequeath my soul unto God almight God and my body to be
buried within the church of Bradford.
I give
and bequeath unto Richard Hodgson, clerk, my son, one
close in Bolling called the Wisefield (?fold) adjoining to one
close called Brindcroft and one Holme in Bradford called
Jordanholme and bondyth of the holle field for the remainder of
the life of the said Richard. I give and bequeath unto
Umfray Hodgson my son forterm of his life certain closes in
Bolling called Ingram payings...........unto Thomas Hodgson
my son and heirs the sum of ....shillings.
Also I
give and lease and bequeath to my two daughters Effam and
Beatrix the occupation setting and cutting of one burgage
(?) and lathe and a croft in Kirkgate in Bradford lane in the
occupation of milling Horton for the term of ten years next
following after the decease of me the said James Hodgson. After
which term has ended I will that Thomas Hodgson son of Edward
Hodgson shall and taike the issues and profits of the said
half burgage lathe and croft but to him as he hath rayned
of the profits thereof the sum of xis.
Also i
give grant and bequeath to James Hodgson my son one
yearly rent of xijs and 2d yearly to be paid by my son and heir
and going forth of the halle for the term of his natural life
and for default of payment to enter unto the said halle, lathe,
gardens and croft.
Also I
give and bequeath all the residue of my lands and tenements in
Bolling and Bradford to Thomas Hodgson my son and heir.
Also I give and bequeath to my said 2 daughters Effam and
Beatrix all my household stuff except one grate and a ....
tongs, and one side borde which I give to Thomas Hodgson my
son and heir. Also I give and bequeath to the said Umfray
my son one ...... with all things belonging to the farm and
a pair of lambs with all things for but to belonging, and one
pair of miller shears.
Also I
give and bequeath to James Hodgson my son one pair of
lambs with a pair of walker shears.
Also I
will that Thomas Hodgson son of Edward Hodgson shall
remain with Thomas Hodgson my son and heir with all his
childe portion of goods, until such time as the said Thomas
Hodgson the younger shall be at lawful age, and to be sculed
and governed by the said Thomas, and Richard Hodgson my
sonnes.
Also
I give to Agnes Halsworth one hawke ......Also I give
unto Alice Inman vs. Also I give unto James Ogden
one hawke....to remayne with Thomas Hodgson my sonne
until the said James be of lawful age. Also I give
and bequeath unto Elizabeth ...... one other hawks
....... and one cowe to remain with the said Thomas Hodgson
my son and heir until she reach lawful age.
Also I
ordain constitute and make Umfray Hodgson my son, Effam and
Beatrix my daughters, executors of this my last will and
testament. To them I give the balance of all my goods before not
bequeathed and they to pay my detts and make the arrangements of
my funeral expenses and to distibute to the poor as my
inheritors.
Also I
ordain and make the said Thomas Hodgson and Richard Hodgson
my sonnes the ....... of this my last will and testament and
that all things among my said children to be ordered by them and
my d.... ffrende Thomas Bolling.
