The Will of Andrew Hodgson (1634-1667)

 

In ye name of God amen. I Andrew Hodgson of Little Horton in Bradforddale in ye county of York, tanner, (being weak in body but of good and perfect memory,) praise be almighty God. I do declare my mynd as to-- as it has pleased my good god to lend me in this world. As for my soule I freely surrender it into the hands of my great  saviour etc. I commit my body to the grave to be buried in decent manner after my decease.

   As for my personal estate I hereby will and bequeath all my lawful debts and funeral expenses to be paid and discharged out of the same. I hereby give unto Ann my loving wife and Hannah my daughter to be equally divided betwixt them and -- my real estate to in -- by deed bearing date 12th October 1659 for ye use of my self for life and afterwards the said real estate to the use of the said Ann, my wife during her natural life, and any issue from me the said Andrew and Anne my wife lawfully begotten and to be begotten.

   And I make the said Anne my wife sole executrix of this my last will freely revoking and annulling all former wills, in witness thereof I have put my hand and seal this 29th day of January 1667.
