The Will of William Hodge

 

In the Name of God Amen I William Hodge of the Parish of Saint Levan in the County of Cornwall Yeoman being of sound  perfect and disposing mind and memory Do make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following revoking hereby all former Wills and Testaments by me at any time heretofore made either by word or in writing Imprimis I give devise and bequeath unto my Son William Hodge all that my Messuage or Tenement called Bodellan in the said Parish of Saint Levan with all its Rights Members and appurtenances To hold to him his Executors Administrators and Assigns from my death during all the then remainder of the Term and Estate I have therein determinable on the deaths of Richard Hodge and Martin Hodge my Brothers subject nevertheless to the limitations and exceptions hereinafter mentioned Item I give devise and bequeath unto my dearly beloved Wife Alice Hodge all that my Messuage or Tenement called Rospletha situate lying and being in the Parish of Saint Levan with all rights Members and Appurtenances To hold to her and  her assigns from and immediately after my death for and during the Term of her natural life without Impeachment of Wast and from and after her death I Give grant devise and bequeath the said Tenement called Rospletha to my said son William to hold to him his Heirs and Assigns for ever Item I Give and devise unto my said Wife the Summe of forty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to her by my said Son my Executor herein within six months after my death and to hereby subject my said devise of Bodellan aforesaid to the Provision and Payment herein after mentioned (Vizt) that my said Son shall permit and suffer my said Wife to live in my present dwelling house at Bodellan during the term of her natural life if the Estate I shall have therein at the time of  my death shall so long continue and to make use of what part of my household goods there she shall have occasion for But in case she shall refuse to cohabit with my said Son that then he shall within one month after such her refusal deliver unto her one full moiety or halfendeale of all the Household goods I shall dye possessed of and shall thenceforth well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto her my said Wife the yearly Summe of fifty shillings of lawfull money of Great Britain by equall Quarterly payments free of all outgoings Item all the rest of my Lands and Tenements Goods and Chattells Rights and Credits not herein before given devised or bequeathed (my Debts Legacys and ffuenral Charges being first paid off) I Give devise and bequeath unto my said son William whom of this my last Will and Testament I make constitute and appoint whole and sole Executor Charging him to be dutifull to his said Mother In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this fifteenth day of June Anno Dm 1739 William Hodge
